it's a tuesday and there's a new baby at the daycare harry works at, and he cannot take it anymore.he gets off work (officially) at three o' clock on the dot, waits with tiona kressler for her mum who's late (for the third time that week), until four on the dot.
he gets home at four thirty two, and walks in the door, and calls out for his boyfriend.
"hmm?" he hears, coming from the kitchen.
he hangs up his coat and scarf, kicks off his boots, and goes to the kitchen, where louis (surprise, surprise) is reading a book at the counter. "hey."
louis' eyes dart up for a second. "hi, love."
"new book?"
"mhm." he hums. "finished the other earlier."
"was it good?"
"it was great." louis says. he folds over the top of the page for his bookmark, and closes the book to look at harry. "what's wrong?"
harry loves how he can just tell by the sound of harry's voice that he wants to talk. he loves louis.
"h?"
"i want a baby." he breathes.
louis' eyes widen. "you want a baby." he repeats.
harry's cheeks go pink because he wasn't actually gonna say it out loud.
"a baby." he says again.
"uh, i want a... yeah." he breathes. "i want a baby."
"oh..." louis murmurs. "okay..."
"i just." harry sighs. "i want a little baby to have at home. we got a new baby at work today and he's so cute and i just want one of our own."
louis nods. "okay. i... guess we can try."
harry's hear practically explodes. he practically lunges across the table and hugs louis, and kisses his face all over. "thank you, thank you, thank you!"
louis smiles softly. "yeah... sure."
"i... we should start now. if we start now then we can have a september baby!" harry says excitedly. "oh, louis, a baby!"
"haz, babe." louis says, patting his back. "shh. i'm hungry, and i need to finish this chapter. we can make a baby later."
harry pouts but nods. "um, okay, okay. uh, what do you want? something healthy! yeah, yeah, something healthy for the baby!" he runs into the kitchen throws the fridge door open and begins looking through the crisper for veggies.
"'m not even pregnant yet, harry." louis laughs. he opens up his book, and begins reading again. "i want pasta."
"okay, okay, pasta." harry says. he gets a box of noodles from the top shelf. "what kind of pasta?"
"the past-a-roni stuff with the creamy sauce."
"the instant stuff?" harry asks, looking at louis' back with wide eyes. "but i could make something!"
"the past-a-roni stuff is good, though, haz."
harry sighs, but grabs a box and puts the one he grabbed before back. "right, okay."
"thank you, darling."
"mhm."
its quiet for a while, before harry breaks the silence again.
"what're we gonna name them?" his voice is laced with excitement, just thinking about having a baby. having a baby with louis.
"we should name our baby after a book character." louis says, casually.
"like who?"
louis shrugs. "like... percy... or lincoln... or levi... jace... will... of course his middle name would have to be grayson, uh, miles... augustus." louis twists his body so he's looking at harry's back as he stirs the noodles at the stove. "those are only boys, but i have so many girl names too."
now louis' getting excited about this. if harry'll let him he'll have tiny little babies with the names of his favourite characters.
harry turns the stove off and turns to look at his boyfriend.
"you want book babies?" harry raises an eyebrow.
"yes." louis says. he nods and smiles wide. "yes."
harry raises an eyebrow.
"harry, it'll be great!" he insists. "book babies!"
"book babies."
louis pouts in the way he knows harry can't resist (he's weak, so weak).
harry sighs. "okay." he sighs. "okay. we'll have book babies."
