Defying All Odds

Part 24

*Selena's POV*

"Emma you look... Wow," I said holding my hand over my mouth.

"Really? You don't think it looks weird with the gigantic stomach and everything?" she asked turing a different way to get a different angle of herself in the mirror.

"You looks perfect. Let go check on the boys," I said picking up the bottom on my long dress to leave the master bedroom and head over to where the boys were getting ready.

I knocked on the door before walking in seeing a the boys dressed in suits.

"You all look so amazing," I said trying to keep the tears at bay and not ruin my make up.

"Is Bailey ready?" I asked once I regained control.

"Yes. She's in her room," Bentley said.

"Okay everyone limo should be here any minute. We wouldn't want to be late to the Grammys!" Justin yelled the last part.

"Okay you all go down I'll get Bailey," I said already out of breath.

"No you go down. I'll get her," Justin said placing a hand on my 6 month belly as he placed a kiss on my cheek.

I nodded and followed his instructions, carefully making my way down stairs.

"Limos here," Jachito said looking out the window.

"Everyone to the car. Let Emma get in first!" I yelled as the kids ran outside.

"We have a pretty cute family," Justin said from behind me.

"We are very blessed," I smiled kissing him before picking up my clutch and walking out to the limo where the rest of the family already was.

The Staples Center want far from the house but because of Grammy traffic it took forever to get there. As soon as we arrived, we climbed out the the car and Justin did an interview we will stood off to the side. After all the interviews were done, we made it to the red carpet and the paparazzi went crazy over all of us, especially with both Emmaleigh and I being very pregnant.

Once we finished that we went inside and were quickly seated.

"You're going to win. I feel it," I whispered to Justin.

"Selena Marie," I heard a voice say as I turned around in my chair.

"Taylor Allison," I smiled wide, standing up to give my old friend a hug.

"It's really been too long," she laughed looking at me from head to toe. "You're pregnant."

"Very," I laughed. "How's Ed?"

"Great, he's up for an award tonight actually," She smiled proudly.

"And the kids?"

"They are doing so well."

*Justin's POV*

The show started right on time and they began the performances and they gave away award after award. Everyone was dancing along during the songs and clapped happily for the winner of each category.

About half way through the show, it was almost time for my category when Selena leaned over and whisper in my ear.

"Jay we have to go," she spoke softly.

"What?" I whisper-yelled at her. "Why?"

"Are you ready to be a grandfather?" she asked.

"Now? This can't wait?" I asked.

"Unless you want to have the baby in front of everyone, embarrass your daughter by having everyone see her female parts then no."

"You two go. I'll meet up with you after that category," I replied.

"You're willing to give up the once in a life time opportunity to not only be there for your first born as she has her first born but also giving up the chance to see your grandson be born," she said in disgust. "There will be other Grammys but you will never get this chance again."

Suddenly the two of them sat up and I sighed loudly. "Come on kids. We're off to the hospital," I sighed looking back at the crowded building, something that would probably never happen again.

"Room for a few more?" I asked as we got to the limo.

Selena smiled slightly and nodded before we all piled in.

"Call Matt," Emma said through deep, fast breaths.

I did as instructed and called him and he said he would meet us at the hospital with the baby bag.

"Call mom too," she breathed clutching her teeth as I called Kate's number for the first time in a long time.

-

Things were pretty awkward as we waited for Emma to fully dilate. In the room there was me, Selena, Matt and Kate, while Jake waited outside with Bentley, Jachito, and Bailey.

"You only get three people in the room with you. Who do you want?" one of the nurses asked.

"Mom, Matt, can I talk to Dad and Selena for a moment alone?" Emma asked leaning her sweating head back on the pillow.

Once there were gone, Emma spoke up. "I want you guys. I don't know how to break it to Mom."

"No sweetie. Listen, I love you so much. I have always thought of you as my own daughter, but she is your mother. She needs to be in the room with you. Plus I can't be that much help with this giant belly," she laughed placing a kiss on her head. "I promise I will be the first on in here once they allow more people in okay?" she said as the nurse checked her.

"Are you ready to become a mom?"

"I'll get Matt and your mom on the way out. I love you. I'll see you very soon."

Everything else happened so fast. Of course I had been in the delivery room a few times seeing Selena and I did have children of our own but it was much different when your daughter was the one giving birth.

After a few pushes and lots of tears, and yelling, the sound of cries filled the room followed by the doctor yelling, "It's a boy!"

Shortly after they cleaned him up and handed him to Emma, I pulled out my phone to take a picture of them to see multiple missed calls.

I called Scooter back. "Aye man, sorry I had to leave. Emma had the baby."

"She did? Wow! Congratulations," he said. "So I have some good and bad news."

"Bad first," I sighed knowing that I hadn't won the award.

"The bad news is I had to accept your award."

"We won?" I asked in shock.

"A grandson and a Grammy in one day. You are very lucky Justin. Congratulations," he said before hanging up, leaving me to smile like an idiot for the rest of the night.
