Falling For You, Again

It was the next day and per usual, my friends and I split to go to our classrooms. I go to my desk and take a seat, taking out my notebooks and pencil case out of my backpack. I feel a tight pull on my hair, making my head tilt backwards.

"Aish! YAH! You're pulling my hair!" I raise my voice not having a clue who was behind me.

It was Jungkook.

I stood up, turned my body towards him and glared at him for a good minute.

"What are you doing? Why would you do that? Aish, you rascal." I said while rubbing the back of my head.

Jungkook just laughed back.

"Uwa. Soomin-ah you haven't changed. Aggressive and loud as always."

I sighed. "Yah, what do you want?"

"Nothing. I just felt like doing that." He smirked and went to his seat.

"JEON JUNGKOOK" I wanted to scream my lungs out. What an asshole and that's the only thing he's good at being. I rolled my eyes and sat back in my seat.

But on the other hand, my memories came back and it was something Jungkook used to do when he wanted attention. I remember he used to pull on my hair when he was sad, or when he needed to tell me his concerns. Ugh whatever. Soomin, get it together. That was over 10 years ago. Don't bother.

I could see all the girls bunched together in the corner, glaring at me as if they wanted to get their hairs pulled by him.

The bell rang for our first period to begin. "Okay class, get your literature books out and turn to page 235," my English teacher, Mr. Choi, instructed.

For some odd reason class feels longer than usual. I can't keep my eyes off the clock right above the blackboard.

I kept daydreaming throughout Mr. Choi's lecture. All I could think about is the past. My past with Jungkook— our childhood:

Jungkook and I were childhood best friends since our parents were also great friends. We often had sleepovers, we've went camping together with both of our families, and we've had so much fun spending time together. I liked him. I wanted it to be that way forever.

It wasn't until our first year of middle school that we started drifting apart. He started hanging out with friends that I was not a fond of and in a matter of no time, I soon realized that he has become a bully—my bully. He would ignore me, trip me, and demand his friends to hurt me all through middle school. We haven't much interacted in high school but I have a weird feeling that that may change sooner or later.

I kept wondering why he turned from a nice, outgoing, bubbly boy to a bully. I was confused and hurt—

Then the bell cuts my rumination. Finally, class is over. One down, 4 more classes to go.

Today was definitely long. I didn't even hang out with Taehyung and Jaein after school because I was just so exhausted.

"Halmoni(Grandma)! I'm home!" I yelled, coming in.

"I'm in the kitchen! Why are you back early?"

"Halmoni~ I missed you." I ignored her question and hugged her from behind as she was cooking my favorite kimchi fried rice.

I live with my grandma since my parents are off seas for work. I technically haven't seen them for over 2 years now; but sometimes we skype. I actually love living with my grandma and I figured I would be a great company for her after we lost grandpa.

After dinner and finishing up my homework, I went upstairs to my room and laid on my bed. I sighed and stared at my ceiling. My phone beeped, <text message from Taehyung>. I opened his message. <Soomin, meet me by the convenience store.>

Right now? At this time? I thought. I got a little anxious, getting a text from him saying to meet him late at night..

It was 10pm but I still got up from my bed and wore an over sized hoodie.

"Halmoni! I'm meeting Taehyung, I'll be back soon!

"Be careful." She said while folding up laundry in the living room and watching more tv. Grandma trusts me whenever I'm with Taehyung or Jaein since we've all grown up together and she knows them as much as I do.

Same goes with Jungkook. We used to all be best friends until he changed.
