"Can't you stay home with me?" I whined to my dad, my bottom lip trembling as I put on my best pout.

He rolled his eyes at me as he gathered his things into his suitcase and locked it. "Abby, you knew this job I was taking meant that I won't be at home as much."

I let out a long sigh and slumped onto the bar stool in the kitchen. "I know, but school doesn't start for another 2 weeks and I have no friends to entertain me until then!"

"What about that Bellamy kid?" My dad asked, a sly smirk playing on his lips.

"Oh yes, I can see that playing out wonderfully!" I exclaimed dramatically as I followed him to the front door. "Hi there! Remember me? I talked to you for about 10 minutes a week ago and haven't seen you since! Want to hang out?"

My dad let out a chuckle and raised an eyebrow. "Well, when you say it like that..." He saw my unimpressed look and raised his hands in defense. "It's either that or moping around the house for the next 2 weeks, Abby! Make your choice."

I groaned and let out a huff of annoyance. "Fine."

My dad wrapped one arm around me and pulled me against his chest, placing a kiss on the top of my head. "Love you, kid."

I tried to keep the pout secured on my face but, not being able to, I let it slip and gave him a smile instead. "I love you too. Drive safely!"

Once the car had disappeared from view, I let out a sigh and closed the door behind me. What was I going to do? I definitely didn't want to spend the next 2 weeks cooped up inside like a creepy weirdo. But I also didn't want to embarrass myself and be rejected by Matthew.

I shook my head slightly, trying to rid my brain of these confusing thoughts. Well, first things first... I decided on making my way up the stairs and into my room to get changed out of my pyjamas. Maybe once I had some proper clothing on I might feel a bit more adventurous.

Once I was in my room, I began to rummage through the piles of clothes scattered around the floor. After this whole week, I had still yet to sort out all my belongings into their rightful places. What can I say? Being lazy and getting distracted easily was a curse. I finally picked out a cute dress from one of the piles and held it against my body as I looked at myself in the full length mirror. Smiling slightly at my choice, I removed my clothes and slipped on the dress along with a pair of white flats. I had taken a peek outside before and, for the first time since we moved here, it was actually gorgeous and sunny outside.

I made my way into the bathroom and began to apply my regular makeup. All it took was some foundation, light brown eyeshadow, eyeliner and dark mascara to make me feel decent enough to be seen in public. Before I exited the house, I took another look in the mirror, fixed my hair and was out the door. I had decided I was taking my chances and knocking on Matthew Bellamy's door.

As I made my way to his house, I began to feel incredibly nervous. The same scenario of him rejecting me at his front door kept replaying over and over in my head. By the time I had finally made it to his front door, I was too nervous to even knock and stood there for a moment or two trying to build up the courage. It's now or never, Abby. You're going to regret it if you walk away. With those last words running through my mind, I raised my hand to knock... Only to have the door swing open in front of me before I even had the chance.

The man himself stood there, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he looked at me. Oh God, please don't let him have forgotten my name already. "Abby?"

In my head I was jumping up and down with joy that he had remembered who I was, but on the ouside I was trying my best to remain calm and collected. So far, so good. "Hey Matt. Sorry, did I catch you at a bad time?"

He shook his head, signaling that it was okay. "I was just heading out to meet some friends. What's up?"

"Oh," I tried not to sound too disappointed realising now that my plan to hang out with him had just backfired. I gave a small smile which I hoped was convincing. "I was just checking to see if you wanted to do something today, but you're busy so-"

He interrupted me, that gorgeous smirk on his face, before I could ramble on any longer. "You can come too if you want?

"What?" Surprise was written across my features as soon as the question left his mouth. He was actually inviting me to hang out with him and his friends? "No, no, no. That's okay. I don't want to intrude or anything."

Matt raised an eyebrow at me. "You're not going to be intruding. The guys won't care."

The guys? I wanted so badly to ask if by 'guys' he meant all male and, if so, how many 'guys' he was referring to. But I didn't want to seem like a loser, so I let it slide. "As long as you're sure..." Hesitation was clearly heard in my voice and I mentally slapped myself.

"Are you sure?" He asked, looking like he knew what questions I was wanting to ask.

Abby, Abby, Abby. My brain taunted me. You need to do this if you want to make friends. I nodded my head causing Matthew to grin at me, which almost made me weak at the knees... Almost.

Matthew gave me a wink. "Well, let's go then."
