Ryan's POV ~

It was Saturday morning and I woke up before Ella. Her head was nuzzled into my chest and I had my arms wrapped around her. I loved being like this, but I thought making Ella breakfast would be something nice to do. I carefully took my arms off of her and slid out of the bed, tip toeing so she wouldn't hear anything.

I opened the door to her room and let myself out. I walked down stairs and to the kitchen.

I cleaned up a bit and grabbed air freshener and went to spray it in the living room. The week Ella's father was taken to jail, me and Ella decided to clean the house for a 'fresh start'. Also Ella likes the smell of the air freshener we have, so why wouldn't I use it?

I look through the fridge and cupboards for something to make. I ended up settling on banana chocolate chip pancakes.

Ella's POV ~

I woke up to a ringtone. I turned around to snuggle into Ryan and try to ignore it, but no one was there. I propped myself on my elbows and furrowed my eyebrows. "Ryan?" I stated. No answer. The phone kept ringing and I scoured the bed to try and look for it. Once I found it the caller ID read Unknown.

I declined not wanting to hear who was on the other line, or end up in the hospital again. I opened iMessage to text Ryan to see where he was.

You: hey, where are you ry?

I turned off my phone, and got up to brush my teeth, hoping I would get a reply. As I gargled my mouth wash my phone began to ring again. I swirled it in my mouth a couple more times before spitting it out and running to my phone.

Unknown

I sighed and answered. "Hello?" I asked quite annoyed but still I was shaking from anxiety.

"H-hi may I p-please speak w-with E-Ella?"

I furrowed my eyebrows. It was a ladies voice on the other line, and I couldn't think of anyone it could be.

"This is Ella. May I ask who's on the other end of the line?" I said slipping on my slippers to go and see if Ryan was in the living room. "This is Madeleine." The voice spoke. The name was very familiar. Suddenly my body completely froze and almost dropped my phone.

"Mom?"

Ryan's POV ~

"Get you a guy that can ff-FLIP pancakes." I said as I flipped the last of the pancake batter.

I heard my phone go off about 4 times already but don't pay attention to it until I finish. I went to grab the whip cream out of the refrigerator to put on the stack of 3 pancakes. I then poured Ella a glass of orange juice. I then did the same for me and went to set it down on the dining table.

After I was finished I reached into my pocket to grab my phone.

<3 Ella <3: hey, where are you ry?
<3 Ella <3: Babe someone is calling me again..
<3 Ella <3: Ryan come on please, where are you?
<3 Ella <3: RYAN! :(

After reading those texts I felt absolutely horrible. I ran upstairs and quietly opened the door.

As I opened the door I could hear Ella sobbing quietly. Once I saw her she was sitting on the bed with her knees pressed against her chest crying into them. "Ella! What wrong?" I said, startling her a bit to the point she let go of her knees. I wrapped my arms around her and embraced her with a hug, rubbing her back while she cried into my shoulder.

"El what's wrong?" I asked kissing her hair.
"My mom called me, and apologized for everything I had to go through, and sh-she got a call s-saying m-my dad i-is de-dead.." she sobbed.

My heart sunk. Even though Ella's dad was never the best to Ella, he was still her dad. And after all those years, now her mom decides to call?

"I'm so so sorry baby bear.. Is that all she told you?" I said. "S-she wants to vi-visit m-me and..", Ella then pulled away and curled up under the blankets to hide herself, "h-he killed h-himself." She cried.

One of her hands peeked out of the blanket, so I grabbed it and held it. "It's okay honey, it's okay, everything is going to be okay.. he can't hurt anyone anymore, and I'm so sorry." I said rubbing her knuckles.

"I-I know I-it's just.. I don't know!" She cried harder. "Ella," I said lifting the blankets off of her to see her curled up into a tiny ball, "you're not going to go through this alone okay? I'm here for you, no need to stress out." I said and she quietly sniffled.

"Sit up." I said taking both of her hands and helping her sit up. She looked down at her hands, so I picked her up and placed her on my lap. Her back faced me, so I leaned over and kissed her neck. I could hear Ella take a deep breath before taking one of my hands to interlock our fingers. "Are you okay?" I asked since I couldn't see her face. "Yes.." she said. I let go of her hands and snuck mines under her t-shirt and started to rub her waist and somewhat of a bloated belly.

"Do you want to visit your mom?" I asked, still rubbing her belly. "Well, it would be nice." Ella replied. "It's your choice. You don't have to, it's not like she's forcing you." I said. "I think it's just that I don't know what to expect, she was never in my life Ry.." Ella said looking down again.

"I know..", I sighed, " I don't want you to be worrying about this right now okay? Come on let's go eat breakfast." I said hugging her and kissing her cheek. Ella crawled off of my lap and we both stood up. I cupped both of her cheeks and placed my lips onto hers. I smiled into the kiss and pulled back. "God you're gorgeous. I love you." I said smirking a bit. Ella slightly smiled and hugged me. "I love you too. Also how could I look even decent right now?" Ella giggled. "Not through my eyes." I said winking.

We walked down and into the kitchen. Ella saw the little setup I had and smiled. "This is why you didn't text me back." She giggled. "That's correct." I said.

We both sat down and she cut a piece of her pancake and ate it. "It's cold." She said covering her mouth politely. "No need to thank me!" I said rolling my eyes playfully. We both chuckled.

Once we finished I took our dishes to the sink and washed them. "What would you want to do today?" I asked grabbing a paper napkin to dry my hands. "Baby shopping?" Ella suggested raising an eyebrow. "El, we don't even know what we're having." I chuckled. "Still, please!!" She begged.

I honestly cannot say no to her pretty little face. I sighed, "come on, let's get ready to go baby shopping.."

Ella squeaked, which was the cutest thing and ran upstairs. I smiled and soon followed behind.
