"Liam, take a look at this." I said quietly, walking into his room.

His face screwed up in concentration as he read the letter.

"An owl brought it to me." I told him.

"An owl?" Liam questioned.

"Yes," i simply replied. "What should i do about it?"

"I'd accept." Liam said. "If I was asked to go to a school of magic, I'd accept."

"Shouldn't i show mum first?" I asked.

"What difference would that make? She'd only say no."

"So, i just write a letter back saying that I want to go?"

"I would. I'd also say that I had no way of getting there." Liam said.

When i heard footsteps outside the door i immediately fell silent. As the footsteps grew dim, i released the breath i was subconsciously holding.

I quietly went back into my room, effectively putting an end to our conversation.

I wake the next morning with vague images of fantastic magical creatures that were quickly fading.

I sat up in my bed and looked over at my clock which read 5:00. I sighed when I realised I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep.

I haul myself out of my bed and towards a small desk in the corner of my room and pull out some paper, a pen and an envelope. If I couldn't get back to sleep, I may as well start this letter.

Dear Mrs McGonagall,

If the offer still stands, I wish to attend Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

Unfortunately, I have no way of getting to kings cross station as my mother chooses not to believe in Hogwarts.

I also have no way of obtaining many of the items required for the school year or where to even start looking for them. If you would be able to give me directions to a shop that sells these items, I would be most grateful.

Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth Summers.

By the time I have finished my letter, it is time to get ready for school.

As I walk out the front door i hand my letter, that I had now put in an envelope, to a snow white owl that was perched on the fence.

Liam walks alongside me as we head towards the local school.

As we near the school, there is a man in tattered robes a little bit ahead of us. As we near him I give him a friendly smile that he returns.

"You don't happen to be Elizabeth Summers by any chance?" The man asked.

"I am. Why do you ask?" I reply, a little suspicious of how he knew my name.

"I have been asked to collect you on behalf of Professor McGonagall. My name is Remus Lupin. I am a teacher at Hogwarts." He says holding out a hand.

I timidly shake his hand and he smiles at me. He looks over to my brother who is standing half awkwardly, half protectively behind me.

"And you must be Liam." He says. "I'm Remus." He says holding out his hand.

Liam shakes his hand and then Remus turns back to me. "Professor McGonagall said to give this to you," he said holding out an envelope.

In the same neat handwriting as the other letters I had recived, read my name. I open the letter and read.

Dear Miss Summers,
I have sent Professor Lupin to escort you to Diagon Alley, where you can get everything you require for the upcoming school year.

Professor Lupin will be teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts this year...

"Defence Against the Dark Arts?" I ask, not bothering with the rest of the letter. "Why not math or english?"

"Math and english aren't taught at Hogwarts. Instead we have potions, DADA, care of magical creatures, transfiguration and subjects like that." Professor Lupin replies. "I can explain more later when we are not in danger of being overheard by muggles."

"Muggles?" Liam askes. I had almost forgotten he was hear.

"Non-magical folk." Professor Lupin replies smoothly.

"Liam, im going to Diagon Alley with Professor Lupin. I will be back in time for the end of school. I will meet you at the front of the school and we will walk home together. Ok?" I say turning to Liam.

"Ok..." Liam replies, a hint of uneasiness in his voice. "Don't be late and call me if you need anything."

"I will Liam, don't worry."

"Ok. I will see you after school." Liam replies, sounding more confident.

"Bye," I say as Liam walks towards school, a little faster then normal because the little chat we had had made him late.

I turn to Lupin, "so. Where to now?"
