Phoebe's POV:

We woke up in the middle of the night.

My mommy scared me. She was pale, and she was crying a little. I didn't like seeing my mommy crying, but she smiled and told me that everything was going to be okay.

My dad helped her to the car, while ordering me to grab the bag that we'd packed a few weeks before. I ran into the house fast and took it from under their bed, scrambling to the car and buckling in.

Daddy squeezed mom's hands and cursed at the same time. I was scared again, even though my mom kept on smiling at me, her eyes full of pain. She was holding her stomach too, and her pajamas were wet.

We got to the hospital and hurried inside, leaving the car doors open in a hurry. My dad was carrying my mom now, and her usually golden skin was even paler. I followed them to a nice-looking nurse and they were ushered away.

"Mommy!" I screamed, trying to follow. But my dad looked at me and put a hand up. "Stay there, Phoebe. It'll be okay."

I slowly nodded. "Okay daddy."

They left. I climbed into the plushy chairs in the waiting room and yawned widely, a small smile coming to my face. When I woke up, I was going to have a baby brother.

*Phoebe's Dream*

"Mommy!" I ran and threw my arms around my mommy's neck. she was crying for some reason. I stepped back. "Mommy, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"

She just shook her head, smiling sadly. "Phoebe, I need you to promise me something."

"Okay." I said in a small voice.

"Promise that you'll take care of daddy. I'm gonna need you to be strong for the both of you."

"But what about you?" I asked, confused. Why wouldn't she want me to take care of her either?

She laughed a little, tears pouring faster. "Someone else's gonna be watching over me now. Someone better. But I want you to promise me, Phoebe. Please?"

"I promise mommy."

She pulled back, looking into my eyes and smoothing my hair, wiping a stray tear from my eyes.

Something bad was happening. I could tell. "Mommy, what's going on?" I asked suddenly afraid. What was happening?

"Take care of your dad. And stay by Archer."

"Who's Archer?"

"I love you."

She hugged me again, breathing in, then straightening and looking at me. "Goodbye."

"Mommy! Mommy wait! Where are you going!?!" I started to running to her, tripping over brambles and dark, ferocious looking thorns that suddenly grew and blocked my path. Everything became hazy, and tears streaming down my face as I reached for her. "Mommy! Please, don't go!"
