"Mom, dad, we have been at this for hours what can I say to get you two into a bunker?" the desperation on Lars' face was apparent at this point.

"Son we will not have anymore of this conversation god damn it, I refuse spending my last days arguing and dying pissed off!" said Lars' father in a loud and stern tone. Lars' father was a strong and husky man even for his age, and an intimidating figure even to those who know him well. Regardless of his imposing demeanor Lars' mother always had the final say over him.

"I agree with your father, we are staying here son; we love you we truly do but we are not going to try to fight the evitable. These bunkers seem to good to be true, but son we fully support your decision to go. Please do not feel like your abandoning us, do not let yourself carry an unnecessary burden of guilt over your head." Lars' mother spoke softly and so reassuringly, she is one of the few people that can leave the young politician Lars speechless.

Lars knew there was no hope in changing their minds, and he did not want to force the issue. He sat down on the living room sofa in silence staring around the neatly organized house and then back at his loving parents looking back at him. He knows he will never see his parent ever again once he departs, will never see this quaint little home again, or the beautiful neighborhood outside. As much as this realization tore him apart he knows he has to accept it, all the power he posses can not stop his coming fate.

"Alright I respect your decision as much as I disagree with it, but I just want to spend these next few days with you guys." His parents give him a reassuring hugging embrace, and at least for that moment he felt happy again. Lars' decided to call it a night after hours of travelling and a rollercoaster of emotions, he was exhausted and immediately fell asleep in the guest bedroom.

Lars awoke to a loud "HOLY SHIT!" he recognizes it as his dad's voice. He walks into the living room to see his parents staring in horror at the Television.

"Whats going on?" said a puzzled Lars.

"Apparently the general public has some how gotten wind of this coming meteor, look at whats happening around the world!" Lars' mother eyes where constantly glued to the TV even when talking, trying to comprehend the horrors she was witnessing humanity do to each other.

Lars turns to the TV, to see global riots and stores being looted. "Shit, I knew the government couldn't hide this forever." As he continued to watch he saw uncut footage of mass suicides of those refuse to die by a rock; what was more worrying was every country was on a nuclear alert. It seems the whole world is losing its common sense and powerful nations are struggling to maintain power. Finally Lars' sees the Texan republican on TV speaking to a reporter, fluffing up a story by claiming that he had to expose the governments secrets to warn the people.

Shaking his head in anger, "That fat hypocritical bastard! I spoke to that congressman, he told me everything, he was the one that said to keep quiet to avoid a panic; now look at him he's spilling everything to look like a hero! Does he realize what he has triggered around the world." Lars knew that even as the world is ending the political agenda is still in play.

"Don't worry son, when you called us about the meteor earlier we had already went to the store to stock up on food and supplies, I'm going to get my gun just in case, honey sit down you look like your going to faint or something." Lars' father leaves to the bedroom to find his pistol.

"Listen mom it will be okay, stay inside you should be fine." Lars looks out the window at the peaceful neighborhood, "well it looks like all the crazies are in the main towns and cities, the suburbs seem quiet, we sh-"

Lars is interrupted by a knock on the door "Wait I got my gun, don't answer it!" Lars' father presses beside the door like an amateur cop. "Who is it I got a gun!"
