I awoke to the sound of muffled male voices, followed by a loud "shh!" Then I remembered that I'd fallen asleep at Bangtan's dorm the night before. I sat up on the couch quickly and checked my phone. 10:03. Crap. I'd completely spaced on the fact that I had a study group at 11.
"Taehyung?" I called out, swinging my legs over the couch and standing.
Namjoon poked his head through the kitchen door. "He's still asleep in our room. Is everything okay?"
I nodded. "I just need to go soon because I have a study group at 11 for my final English exam."
"I could help you study if you want to stay. It'll be just like old times." Namjoon smiled.
I chuckled. "You mean hours of you trying to make me understand a concept and getting frustrated because I was so horrible at it?"
Namjoon shook his head. "Whatever. You were always better than you let on."
"Thanks, Joon. But I think it'd be best if I went. I'm actually top of my class right now, so I end up helping the others understand. Just like you used to do for me," I said, grinning.
He held up his hands. "I see how it is, Eun. The pupil is now the master." He laughed and motioned toward his and Tae's shared bedroom. "You'd better go wake him up, then."
I nodded and made my way down the hallway toward Taehyung's room. As soon as I opened the door, I smiled. Taehyung lay peacefully on his side of the room, his new Pomeranian Yeontan snuggled into his side. Neither stirred as I walked in. That changed when I sat beside Tae; both became aware of my presence, especially Yeontan. He jumped over Tae's body and started trying to lick my face. I giggled at the dog's excitement, talking to him in that cute voice people used with babies and animals.
Taehyung sat up, his grayish-blonde hair poofy. "Hi," he said, grinning.
"Hey." I smiled back, stroking Yeontan's fur to try and calm him down.
Tae picked up his beloved pet and held him at eye level. "Can I have a minute with Eun-hee, Tan?" Yeontan licked Tae's nose in response. "I'll give you food first." He slid off of the bed with Yeontan in his arms, looking back at me with a wink before exiting the room. "I'll be right back."
I looked around Tae's side of the room curiously. His desk had a few pictures of all the boys, family photos, and one of the two of us from Christmas 2015. I smiled and picked up the picture to take a closer look. He and I sat next to each other, his arm slung around my shoulders. We both flashed the V sign, smiling sweetly. Compared to now, we both looked pretty young.
"That's one of my favorite pictures of the two of us." I looked up to see Tae leaning against the doorway.
I smiled and put the picture back on his desk. "Yeah, but it's from two years ago. Maybe we need to take an updated one." I walked over and wrapped my arms around his middle. "Things have happened since then."
Tae returned the embrace. "Definitely."
We stood like that for a few moments before I pulled away to look up at him. "Unfortunately I have to go back home. I have a final exam study group at 11."
His lips formed a small pout. "Okay." He brushed a brown strand of hair from my eyes, then kissed my forehead tenderly. "I'll drive you home. I'm sure I can use Seokjin's car."
I shook my head. "Don't worry about it, Tae. It'd probably be best for us to avoid unnecessary attention right now. At least until you let PDnim know about us." I squeezed his arm reassuringly. "I have enough on my bus pass to get back home."
