jennie focus;;

taehyung sits down on the chair and fiddles with his hands. he watches her with curious eyes as she sips her tea.

jennie sets her cup down. "yeah?"

"um," he gulps, "you're really pretty."

jennie blushes.

something about taehyung made jennie feel at ease; at home — if it had been any other random stranger talking to her she doubted she would be able to talk to him so easily. the conversation just flowed, she didn't have to think through her words, she didn't have to tread carefully around him — he just made her feel so comfortable around him.

"what college do you go to?"

"oh, i go to seoul academy of fine arts," jennie answers, lifting the cup to her mouth.

"hey! me too!" taehyung grins. "how come i've never seen you around though?"

"we probably take different majors, what do you major in?"

"literature." [a/n: in literally every fanfic tae does art what even]

"nice, i do business."

"no wonder i've never seen you before, we're in two totally opposite blocks!"

"hey, do you wanna meet one day in school?"

"yeah, you can meet my friends!"

"you should meet mine too, even though they may be a little too much to handle," taehyung chuckles.

a splatter on the window interrupts their conversation and they book look out of the window simultaneously. taehyung smiles; jennie groans. it was raining outside, the world getting shrouded from their vision in a descending grey fog.

i didn't bring an umbrella, and the rain doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon — maybe taehyung would let me sleep over here. nah, fat chance.

"why are you smiling?" jennie asks, slightly miffed.

"nothing," he grinned. "i like the rain."

"how nice," jennie says dryly, and gulps down the rest of the tea (there wasn't much left, maybe about a quarter or so), and stood up. "guess i'll be going then," she says.

taehyung stands up with her. "i'll walk you home," he offers.

"no, it's okay, i'll just run back to the dorms," jennie wasn't keen on that idea, but she'd do anything to avoid spending more time with taehyung — the butterflies in her stomach were getting out of hand.

"haha," taehyung smiles. "no." he drops his smile, becoming serious. "i can't possibly let you get drenched. i'll bring you home." he says in a firm tone, ending the conversation.

"fine."

"let me just lock the café up."

"you can go whenever you want?" jennie asks, curious.

"yeah, my brother seokjin owns this café."

"oh."

taehyung takes an umbrella from the counter and they step out of the café, protected from the rain only by the small retractable shelter attached to the front of the café.

"you really don't have to send me home."

"too late."

he opens the umbrella and wraps his hand around jennie's waist, making jennie shiver at the obvious temperature difference between the cold air and taehyung's warm hand. also at the fact that a hot guy was standing right next to her, holding her waist and sending him home in the rain, under the umbrella. jennie wanted to squeal and giggle, but she managed to contain the strange feminine noise to avoid further judgement.

jennie was never one to face her crush upright, she would rather stay in the shadows (no shade though,,) and watch him from a distance. she was too shy to talk to anyone she had feelings for, be it male or female (yes, jennie was bisexual — who wasn't these days) and thus she came off as cold to people who didn't know her well.

"let's go," taehyung says, breaking her out of her trance.

"y-yeah." shit, why did i stutter, jennie scolded herself internally.

they walk out into the rain, droplets pelting down on the umbrella. jennie closed her eyes and smiled to herself. this is cliché as fuck, but i like it.

"hey jennie?" taehyung's voice was a whisper, barely heard in the thundering rain but due to their (extremely) close proximity, jennie could even feel his breaths fanning over her.

"yeah?"

"i just realised, we stay in the same place don't we, the boys' and girls' dorms are right next to each other."

jennie chuckles. "right, i didn't think about that, but maybe i'll be seeing you around more often since i know your face pretty much already."

they walked on like this, talking and laughing lightly. taehyung's hands moved subtly from jennie's waist until he was holding on tightly to her hand and she couldn't help but gasp at he contact — she was surprised, no doubt, but taehyung's hand fit so perfectly, and his hands were warm, compared to jennie's cold ones.

taehyung smirks as he sees the evident blush on jennie's cheeks.

they reach the dorms fairly quickly; they had brisk-walked about halfway through to avoid the heavy rain which only got heavier. taehyung lets jennie step into the shelter and he stands with the umbrella. jennie noticed that she was all dry while taehyung's right side was wet, and she couldn't help but melt a little at his sweetness and thoughtfulness.

"i think i'll leave soon — do you wanna exchange phone numbers so we can meet again?" taehyung asks, scratching the back of his neck tentatively.

"god, you're awkward," jennie rolls her eyes playfully as they exchange phones and key in their numbers, fingers tapping the screen repeatedly. they pass the phones back and look at each other.

"bye." taehyung says.

"bye."

"you go first."

"no, you can go first, i'll just wait until you go back to your dorm."

"oh god we're so awkward, let's just both go at the same time," taehyung chuckles.

"alright."

"bye!"

"bye!"

with one last final wave, they turn their backs and walk away from each other, hidden grins on their faces.
