Moving In

"Liu, please come out for me. I want to help you."
He took my hand and got to his feet. I guided him to his bed. I grabbed a syringe.
"This will hurt for a little bit, but not for very long okay?" I said, lightly grabbing his arm.
He nodded. I injected him with who knows what, he twitched nervously.
"Bitch, you should've known better than to not lock me up!"

This wasn't Liu. It was Sully. His hand grabbed my neck and squeezed, keeping air from my lungs. My eyes widened. Liu had been doing so well! Now this happened! His eyes widened, and his grip loosened. He returned to his corner.
"Liu, that wasn't you. Just come out. I have to give you a few pills." I said.
I got no response. Quiet hiccups escaped his lips.
"They'll help you."
At this point, Liu was desperate to keep Sully away. He didn't want to hurt people anymore. He sprang from his corner, grabbed the pills from the food tray, and swallowed. I gave him a cup of water to wash them down.
"Thank you." Liu whispered.
"Thanks for taking the pills."
He was quiet for a while. He was still thinking of when Sully attacked me.
"Don't worry, it'll get better eventually. Until then, you're stuck with me."
Liu smiled.
"That's not too bad." He said.
I couldn't help but smile too. I watched him eat. When he was done, I grabbed the tray, said my goodbyes, and left. I had to report to my boss. Tell him about Liu's state. I decided I wasn't going to tell him about today's.. incident. I know it wasn't right, but Liu is deserving of a life worth living, not this hell hole of an asylum.

"Y/N, I believe that Liu has been getting better. It is possible that he could be out in the normal world soon." My boss said.
"Really? That's great!"
"There's just one thing. He would have to be slowly let back into the normal world. He would need help. Since he has no family members and you two seem to be close, I was thinking he could stay with you for a while. Would you be willing to do that for him?"
I thought for a moment. Would I be able to take care of him? Helping him while he was locked up would be way different then helping him on my own home.
"You would get paid to stay with him." My boss said, trying to sweeten the deal.
"I'll take him with me." I said.
I grabbed a pair of clothes for Liu to change into and packed a bag filled with the medications he would need. I knocked softly on Liu's door, alerting him of my presence. I reached for my keys and unlocked the door.
"Liu, come with me."
"I'm not supposed to go outside the room."
"You can come home with me now. You're getting better."
He grinned from ear to ear. It would be so long since the sun had touched his skin. He would finally remember what it was like to feel the earth under his feet, not a padded floor. You handed him the clothes.
"I'll be waiting outside."
When he finished changing, we got in my car and headed for my apartment. My apartment had one bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen.
"It's not big, but it's better than your cell." I said.
He breathed in the fresh air. It felt so foreign to him. I put the bag of medications on the counter. I put on some comfy clothes and sat on the couch. It was starting to get late.
"Where will I be sleeping?" Asked Liu.
"My bed. I'll sleep on the couch."
"I refuse to let you sleep on the couch."
"We could...both sleep on the bed."
"Like...together."
"Yeah."
We retired to the bedroom. I gave Liu a few more pills. He fell asleep in about and hour. As for me, I had to sleep with one eye open. It's not that I didn't trust Liu; I just didn't trust Sully.
