prologue.

"What we're getting now is, yes they're saying it was in fact a fire that erupted inside the external tank of the ship exactly 98 seconds after entered the asteroid field. No one is sure what caused the fire which led to the massive explosion killing all twelve crew members and scientists aboard the space shuttle Deliverance, taking with them our last and only hope.

Once again if you're just tuning in, the CSA space shuttle Deliverance has been destroyed. The final mission to save mankind has failed. The 70 wide mile asteroid known commonly as Mathilda is set to collide with Earth in exactly three weeks time and we'll be bringing you up to the minute coverage of our countdown to the end of days along with all your classic rock favorites. This is Q 107.2 "

the voice on the radio announced in a very calm tone, too calm for the words finn wolfhard had just listened to. he was listening carefully while sitting on the driver's seat, his hands tightly holding the steering wheel, eyes focused on the

nothingness in front of him. alice was placed by his side on the passenger's seat, she couldn't fathom the news, so she waited for his reaction, looking straight into his profile.

"i think we missed the exit"

those were the only words spoken by Finn before his fiancée looked at him in utter disbelief, she removed her seatbelt furiously e got out of the car. she didn't look back, not even once as she ran desperately through the road they had parked, she kept getting more and more distant, smaller and smaller. she ran like the animals in the desert, eager for the oasis where they would finally find water.

finn just stood there, observing alice leaving him but he didn't feel anything. Nothing. he had never seen her so free before. he didn't try to follow her, he didn't try to catch her, he didn't move a single muscle on his body. he stood there, sitting inside the car, keeping the same position since the moment they had arrived for such a long time that it seemed endless. alice was not the problem. the end of times was not the problem. he was the problem and only him.
