Soap slithered across the skin, suds sparkling, water glistening. Hair cascaded over my front. It was too long. I spoke to her, unsure if she could hear me.
Eyes creeping to a close as my lips curved into a content smile, my hand brushing back and forth over the swollen skin. I sighed, feeling relaxed in the tub. At peace finally, praying it consisted.
I don't think God could hear me.
'Bang, bang!'
In this neighborhood, we all knew what that sound was. There was never a need to ask oneself.
I climbed out of the bathtub hurriedly, grabbing my towel and wrapping it around me quickly and exiting the small bathroom.
I looked into my bedroom, checking for Eddie. He was not there. I turned then and froze. Eyes burning with the threat of tears, stomach lurching, chest cracking.
"Eddie?" He lied there lifelessly, the front door hanging wide open.
My feet began to move and within seconds I was staring down at him. There were two holes in his chest and they leaked slowly.
"Eddie!" The tears spilled as did my man's soul, right onto the floor.
"God! Why?" I hovered over him, being painted with his life as he expired, right in front of me.

I startled awake, unsure of where I was. I breathed in and out with a fierce rein, desperate to restore some kind of equilibrium.
I got out of bed quickly, still anxious yet ebbed. I went straight over to the next room, finding Amelia asleep and oblivious to everything else.
It must be nice.
