Eventually Violet fell asleep, but she didn't fall into it like honey like before. No. She was jerked into unconsciousness as the adrenaline fled her body and she became calm again. Her eyes fell like window shades and her mind snapped off as if someone had flipped an internal light switch inside her. The only sounds were the occasional noise from outside of the room of which she couldn't determine the origin and the constant hum of the fluorescent light bulb above her. And she slept. She slept like never before. The hands of unconsciousness held onto her and didn't let go. Her mind didn't want to believe the reality of what was going on. She didn't dream, for her mind was empty. Violet was now an empty vase instead of the bright, lively, girl she had been before. She was so empty, so engulfed in sleep she was almost numb. Violet could no longer feel the confusion or fear. She was just suspended in nothingness. She was awakened by the sound of heavy footsteps and the jangling of keys. Her body turned into a cocktail of emotions. She was angry that she had been pulled from her nothingness. She was confused as to what was going on. But most of all she was scared. I'm pretty sure you can figure out why so I'm not going to elaborate much on that. She heard a small click as the key slid into the lock and turned. The door cracked and Silas's head popped into the room "Well don't you just look like a ball of sunshine!", he joked with a sarcastic smile. Violet's hair was a wreck, her eyes were bloodshot, and she was pale as a ghost(no pun intended). Violet rolled her eyes. She looked up at Silas with anger in her eyes. Silas reached out his hand, "Come with me." Violet reluctantly got up and followed him out of the room. When they got back to the study Violet noticed a small black backpack on the desk. "Sit.", Silas said pointing to a chair in the corner of the room. Violet did what he said and sat in the red leather chair. Silas leaned against his desk and thought for a moment before he spoke. "I.." he started to say something but he stopped. It looked as if he had just noticed something. "You look very scared, what are you afraid of?" "You.", Violet replied curtly. "Hm makes sense, anyways. I've got an idea that works out for both of us at the end. You come with me to the realm of souls to find the keeper of the souls. If I give him your soul and I will be given a higher rank and receive more powers. I'm gonna be the best damn demon in hell.", he smirked. "How does that work out for me?", argued Violet. Silas thought for a moment. "Well maybe it just works out for me but I don't really care." "Why should I go anywhere with you, you have no power over me.",Violet exclaimed. Silas raised an eyebrow. "You sure about that, sweetheart?" He lifted his hand toward Violet. An invisible force rapped itself around her neck and squeezed. Violet clawed and fought for air but it was no use. The color was draining from her face and the oxygen in her lungs was running thin. Just before her body gave out Silas let go. "Think again.", he smirked. Silas went back to his desk and grabbed a few things from the shelves along the walls and stuffed them into his bag. "Do you want to listen to some music while I grab a few more things?", asked Silas. "Sure.", spat Violet. "Any requests?" " 'You are my sunshine' by Johnny cash.", Violet requested. "Fuck, I hate that song." "Well if you're giving away my soul or whatever shouldn't I get to pick the song?" "Fine.", sighed Silas. He took a record from a collection of many and put it into a record player beside his desk. The lyrics poured through the large speaker and soothed Violet's anxiety. 'You are my sunshine my only sunshine.', she softly mouthed along with the words, 'You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away.'
