Chapter 7

Jinxx's POV

She fell asleep in my arms last night, and when I woke up this morning, there she still lay. She was sleeping yet she still looked just as gorgeous as she does when she is awake. Everyone else had gotten up, but I wanted to let her sleep. She was going on a mission to the F.E.A.R. headquarters which made me very nervous. I wanted to go with them, but Andy insisted that I stay here and help the warriors train, just in case battle ensued.

Toni's lovely eyes then fluttered open and a smile appeared on her face. "Good morning." she said.

I returned her smile and responded, "Good morning, beautiful." She snuggled close, "Are you ready for the mission today?"

She nodded her head and said, "Yes. It will all go fine, Jinxx." We both slowly woke up and stepped out into the morning; it was really hot with the sun up, but Toni still wore her sister's jacket with a black tank top and some shorts with her converse.

We found Andy, Jasper, and the rest of the guys standing by the entrance of camp. "Good morning love birds." Anna greeted us.

Toni smiled as we joined the group. Andy said, "Alright, we'll head out soon. We are going to watch from a hill by the F.E.A.R. building and see if anyone is within listening range and if so, Toni, you can read them. If there is no one in sight, we will head straight back here. If we aren't back by the afternoon time, I want a small group out to find us. We all clear on what's happening?"

We all nodded, but Jasper just slightly moved his head. He hadn't really spoken since Destiny was murdered. He was crushed, but I hoped he would soon be back to his old self, or even close to it.

Juliet then gave Andy a hug and talked to him a bit so I hugged Toni as well. She looked up at me and said, "I will be back before you know it."

Then she kissed me, and all of my worries were taken away for a moment, until she broke the kiss and hugged me once more. "Let's get going." Andy said, breaking our hug. I looked her in the eyes one last time before she set off with Andy and Jasper into the desert.

Toni's POV

I said my goodbyes to Jinxx and the others before Andy, Jasper and I set off into the desert for the F.E.A.R. facility. I hoped there would be people there for me to read; I could finally be of use here.

I was armed with my usual two knives on my belt and of course, my mind. We were walking for a while until we finally came to the building...it was big, dark, and looked like a living hell. We ducked behind a small hill of sand; we weren't visible but, we could see out. There was actually a group of people standing outside of the building; it was two warriors and one of the F.E.A.R. higher ups....it was a scary sight...he was in all black and the only body part visible from his or her get up was their eyes out of two extremely small holes.

Andy whispers, "Alright. Try to read them."

First, I tried one of the warriors. I relayed the information to Andy and Jasper, "The warrior on the far left.....he is..scared and......doesn't want to fight anyone.......he had a sister....she was killed.......he was forced to be a warrior......"

Then, the next warrior, "The other warrior.......he is thinking about.....the battle.....in two days time....the warriors will fight the Wild Ones.....they will be waiting at a small part of the desert north of the camp......they will send warriors to....bring us to the battle..."

Andy whispered, "We won't be brought to battle.....we will meet them there before they come get us."

I nodded, and then I moved on to the other person standing with the two warriors. And....I couldn't read anything....all I could read was darkness....death.....

Andy asked, "And the other person? Toni?"

I responded, "I only sense....darkness......death......nothingness.....I can't read any clear thoughts......." Then, my brain started to hurt a little...a burning sensation filled my head and to my ears.

I placed my hands over my temples and scrunched my nose in pain. "Are you alright, Toni?" Andy asked.

"I...I think I'm fine it's just after I tried reading that person...my head started to burn..." I responded.

Andy nodded and said, "Let's go back now."

We stood and made our way back to camp and the pain finally went away. After walking all the way back, Jinxx ran out of the Hall and had me in his arms. "I'm so happy you're back!" he exclaimed.

I smiled as he put me down and I kissed him. After, he asked, "How did everything go? Did you learn anything?"

I nodded and responded, "There will be battle in two days......and.......I tried to read one of the F.E.A.R. higher ups but.......my head burned....I don't know why."

Jinxx placed a hand on my shoulder and said, "You are strong.....there must be a logical reason for that."

I nodded and we walked back into the hall to announce our findings, hand in hand.
