"I don't get why I have to pack up my life for you!" Myla huffed at her mother while packing up her room.
"Excuse me, young lady. I've had it wth your mouth these last couple of days." Myla's mother Quinn scolded at her. "I felt it was time that I take you with me since you're father is back on doing business trips."
"Well, why can't Ginny take care of me?" Myla referred to her nanny that had been caring for her since birth.
"Myla, Ginny is getting older it's time she starts living life with her husband, childre, and grandchildren." Quinn played in Myla's soft bouncy curls.
"Hire another nanny so I don't have to move to San Francisco." She whined.
"Myla, you are coming with me to San Francisco whether you like it or not. I am not leaving you here while your father goes off to work. We have finalized custody that it would be best for you to live with me."
"Fine."
Myla's parents Quinn and Leroy were married for 20 years until Quinn found out Leroy had been cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend from high school. It was the middle of school year when her parents divorced, at the time Myla was 15 years old. Myla didn't want to move with her mom to San Francisco from Los Angeles. Myla, now 17 been living with her father since the divorce has been offered a project that requires him to travel. Although, Ginny the nanny has been caring for her since birth Quinn felt it would be best to take full custody of Myla. 2 years later Quinn got remarried to a retired basketball player George Mason (not a real basketball player name) and moved in with him and his son Gregory Mason. Myla has only met them once or twice, quite frankly she's never cared to bond with them.
"It will be fun you'll still get to travel back and forth between LA and San Francisco. I felt it would be great to spend one more year with you before you take off to college."
"Fine."
"Don't be so stubborn, Myla."
Quinn grabbed Myla by the hand kissing it. Myla gave in to accept the changes that have started. She knew so much was going to change, especially being an only child she didn't know how this new life was going to work out for her. With all of her might she was determined to make the best of it.
Myla continued packing up her room with her mother. Her father Leroy was out of town for work so he couldn't be around to see her off.
"You'll always be welcome to visit your dad. Plus, George and Greg are ready to get to know you. You barely came to visit me I was always the one visiting you. I know you're used to me and daddy but things have changed."
"I guess..."
Interrupted by the doorbell Myla rushes downstairs to answer. It was her mom's younger sister Qiana (pronounced Kiana), Myla jumped into her aunt's arms whimpering.
"Auntie, don't let her take me."
"I should kick your momma right in the shin for taking you away from me." Qiana mumbled in Myla's ear.
"Who is it, Myla?" Quinn stood at the top of the stairs looking down.
"Auntie." Myla rolled her eyes at her mom.
"I so would love to kick your ass for taking my baby away. Who am I gon rob the banks with?"
Myla giggled at her auntie. Qiana also helped take care of Myla when Quinn moved to San Francisco but with her comedian career shooting thru the roof. She couldn't do much anymore.
