Soulmate

What is a soulmate?

Many people have many different definitions.

Some might say they are someone who you share your most intimate pleasures with.

Some might say they are someone who is incredibly important to you.

Some might say they are siblings, best friends, or lovers.

Most say that everyone has a soulmate, but some people do not.

And some of those some like it that way.

The loneliness, in a way, is their soulmate.

But what about me?

My definition of a soulmate is like a best friend, but more.

Someone who you can share your interests, your dreams, your fears, and your wildest aspirations with and not be judged for them.

Someone who can hold you when you need to be held, protect you when you need to be protected, fight for you when you need to be fought for.

A soulmate is all of these things.

It is no one way street, however.

You must reciprocate the feelings and the actions your soulmate has or does for you.

You must not judge them when they share their interests, dreams, fears, and wildest aspirations.

You must hold them when they need to be held, protect them when they need protection, fight for them when they need to be fought for.

The only way to lose a soulmate is not through an argument about differences or any silly misunderstanding.

The way to lose a soulmate is forgetting to cherish them.

Having a soulmate isn't like having an object.

It's a beautiful form of duality where opposites attract and similarities grow in tandem.

Where two parts become one in the same, creating a new fusion of two complex and fascinating individuals, each with their own unique personalities and stories behind each one.

I wish I had a soulmate.

But I am still young.

I am still trying to find out who I am and who I want to be.

Maybe it is too early.

So I'll wait.

Days, weeks, months, years, decades.

Long enough for the right someone to come along and fit into my life like two puzzle pieces locking into place, helping to create the beautiful picture that is my life made up of good and bad experiences, people, and milestones.

The picture cannot be completed without each puzzle piece.

Nor, without patience.

You've reached the end of published parts.
