y/n
.
."hey, finn," you say softly. he puts his head down, probably embarrassed he was looking the wrong way. you wish you could tell him its okay, that he doesn't have to worry about it, but would that be rude? you feel like anything you say is going to come off as pity, but god damn he was making it hard not to.
"hey finn," gaten says hopefully.
"gaten," was all he said in return, including a curt nod. a large smile formed on gatens face and he rested his head on his hand. you could tell he was hoping for more. maybe he was hoping his best friend was back.
"y/n plays music too," noah says. you look over at finn to see if he had any kind of reaction, but all he did was raise his eyebrows.
"what do you play," he asks, no emotion clear in his voice.
"the piano." you answer.
a small smile breaks out on finns face. you could see sadie, noah, and gaten giving each other curious looks. was this new for finn? smiling.
"do you listen to classical?" he asks you, actually sounding curious.
"yes, i listen to pretty much anything." you inform. you loved all music, you could care less about the genre.
"what's some of your favorites?" he asks. your friends looked like they were having a stroke. was he not normally like this?
"well, i like beethoven, i mean who doesn't? i like tame impala, swmrs, queen, the beatles, shawn mendes, cavetown, mxmtoon, mozart, and bach," you told him. you had so many more.
"that's an impressive list." he tells you with a small smile.
"come on man," josh says " lets get you to class before the halls start filling up."
"okay. bye, guys. bye, y/n," finn says before walking out of the cafeteria with josh.
gaten lets out a sigh. they all were giving each other weird glances.
"what," you finally ask.
they all gave each other another look and then noah turned to you. "that's the most we heard finn talk since the accident."
"maybe he's had time to think over the summer", you imply.
"yeah, maybe," sadie says.
"i have pre-tech next, what about you guys," you ask, trying to get off the topic of finn.
gaten is the only one that has class with me next, so you end up walking there together.
when you arrive you see finn sitting at an empty table, that happens to have three open seats.
"let's sit next to him," gaten says.
you nod in agreement and place yourselves at finns table, gaten being at the far end and you being in the middle.
"hey finn", you say.
"y/n?" finn asks.
"yeah, it's me. and gaten," you tell him.
"oh," is all he says.
finn doesn't speak for the most of the class, he seems focused on what the teacher is saying.
you took time to look at him while he was so focused in on the teacher. his skin was milky and clear, only with a few freckles dusted across his grecian shaped nose. you wonder what his eyes looked like, hidden behind those thick sunglasses.
"just because i'm blind doesn't mean i don't know when you're staring, y/n," he says quietly, not wanting the teacher to hear.
"oh i-i was just," you stutter, not exactly sure what to say.
he smiles, the corners of his lips creasing a little. "i was just kidding", he tells you.
you felt your face redden a little. "that was a cruel joke," you laugh.
"i'd apologize, but then i'd actually have to care," he says cooley.
finn seemed like a great person, and you couldn't help but smile knowing he just cracked a joke with you.
you look over at gaten and he gives you a small thumbs up, as if telling you to keep talking to him.
you wish you could've known him before he changed. the way everyone's eyes bright up, just seeing that he was talking again, makes you think he was a great person.
you had a strange feeling about finn though. he reminded you about someone that hit too close to home to even consider that they were even alike; because if they were, you wouldn't ever be able to escape the reason you came here.
your feet was sprawled out on his bed while your head was rested on his shoulder. light breaths and lazy eyes consumed you. days like this were always perfect, and you wouldn't change them for the world.
you look up at him, his blond hair covered his eyes, but you knew he was looking at you too. why couldn't all days be so peaceful?
he placed a soft kiss on your forehead and muttered the words, "i love you, flower."

hello ladies and gents, i am so sorry for my lack of updates. i tried so hard to work on this book, because i personally love the idea, but i just wasn't satisfied with the outcome everytime i would write this chapter. i want this book to be enjoyable and not like my first book i posted on here. i still feel a little iffy about posting this, but it's long overdue and the people reading it and asking me to update really deserve it. thank you guys for the support on this book, i really appreciate it <3also, if you couldn't tell, the few paragraphs in italics are flashbacks. they're gonna get longer each time i put them in, and it'll give more info about y/n's past.
thank you for reading, have a great day! (also, i'm forcing myself to work on this book more, so the next update will be soon i promise!)
