Nakia's POV
I was standing in the body mirror admiring my growing belly bump when my best friend and mother walked into the bedroom. I'm still living with Dayshawn and he still hasn't told me why I had to move in so urgently. I thought my parents wouldn't be cool with it but they were. My dad was angry at first when he found out I got pregnant but my mom helped him deal with it. Today if the first time that I go get an ultrasound since the first time I got one. Me and Dayshawn decided we were going to find out the gender before it's born. I've gotten pretty big in these past 6 months. Like bigger than a lot of pregnant women at 6 months. Usually, that means that I'm probably going to have a boy. At least that's what Dayshawn said. He is so excited. We decided also, that if it is a girl her name is going to start with an N and if it's a boy it's going to be Dayshawn Jr.
" Oh honey, you're glowing." My mother said.
" Yes, girl. You is like shining or sum. Where yo fine ass brother though. He said call him when I'm 18. And I'm 18." Moriah said. I chuckled and my mom shot her a mean mug. She still hates it when we cuss.
" Girl, Quinn on his way. And leave him alone." This girl has got to let go and go find her a real nigga.
" Hey baby, it's time to go." Dayshawn said from the doorway causing all of us to jump.
" Damn, you scared the shit of us boy." My momma said. We all laughed. We all agreed that me and Dayshawn were going to go to the doctor together and everyone was gonna wait at his house until we get back. Then we would have a party. Kind of like a pre-baby shower.
" Okay. Bye y'all. We'll be back." I said walking out of the doorway following him to the front door. We both got into the car and drove to the doctor's office.

We are waiting in the ultrasound room for the nurse. We were sitting in a comfortable silence when Dayshawn broke it.
" It's a boy." He said.
" Stop it's a girl," I said. He chuckled.
" Nah, baby. It's most def a boy. You to big so early. It can't be a girl." He said. The nurse walked in. And to my surprise, it was Shannon's mom, Ms. Shaniya.
" Hey, Ms. Shaniya. I forgot you worked here." I said. I was kind of embarrassed. In her eyes was a kid. Last time her or Shannon saw me, I was 17 and not pregnant. Now she sees me and I'm 18 and pregnant. I wasn't feelin being judged today.
" Hey Nakia. Actually, I've been meaning to talk to you. Have you talked to Shannon?" She asked. Now that I think about it I haven't seen Shannon since the day of Dayshawn's party. Which is kinda sad. She was my best friend. She stopped answering my calls and text.
" No. Why?" I asked. A concerned look grew on her face. I began to get uncomfortable and worry about my used to be best friend. I wasn't trying to have any downs in my day today so I had to get straight to the point about getting this ultrasound done.
" Well I'll talk to you about it later but we have to be somewhere so can we make this quick." I said trying to be as polite as I can.
" Yes, of course hun." She nodded. She lifted up my shirt and rubbed the cold jelly on my stomach.
