I make my way back down the staircase and rejoin my group of contestants, numbers 300 through 350. I was almost directly in the middle of the bunch, but I was still nervous as anything. Of course, the other teens in my group looked extremely intimidating. A few girls were laughing as they sat against the wall to the far left, but they seemed to be the only ones at ease. Most of the others were mumbling to themselves or singing to others, as if they were being judged by the other contestants.

I decide to take a seat in the front of the room, since the table is empty. I start singing softly to myself, warming up my vocal chords without wearing them out.

"How long will I love you, as long as skies are above you, and longer if i could," I begin to warm up my voice, but decide it would be better to just give it a rest and hum. Ellie Goulding surely didn't get this nervous before her shows, so niether should I. Now that I've got some time, my mind drifts to thoughts of Jack.

Was it fair, what I had just done to him? It was all I had ever wanted, but now that it had actually happened, I wasn't sure that I wanted any part of it. In fact, I think Jack was just messing with my head for some reason. There are a million girls that would jump at Jack, always calling and texting him while we hung out. They were all so gorgeous, well, compared to me at least. I'm a pretty average looking girl, but these girls would suit Jack so much better. Did he know that? Did he do this to me on purpose?

My thoughts are interupted as a man wearing a headset comes into the room. "You're all going in now, please come with me." Suddnly the room falls scilent, and without question we all follow the nameless man down thin corridors.

As we get to a large set of double doors, things start to get louder. The girl infront of me speaks.

"Hi, I'm Ava, could I maybe- sing my song to you? Sorry, I'm just really nervous," She smiles shyly. I was kind of shocked that she would be so willing to sing to a stranger.

"Hi Ava, I'm Hadley and of course you can sing to me." I smile polietly. "I'm pretty nervous too, so I wouldn't worry."

Ava is slightly shorter than me, and wears a light blue dress. Her hair is curly at the ends, but almost completely straight otherwise. She begins to sing her song, which I instantly recognize. It was a popular band, 5 Seconds of Summer. They're a great band, and they're all very attractive.

When Ava finishes I remember that she's standing right infront of me, and not some recording with autotune on her voice. She was amazing.

"Wow, Ava you're great!" I smile and high five her. She seems very on edge, but I can tell that she has some confidence in her voice.

"Thank you, I'm number 315, and you?" She smiles and points to the tag on her dress. I point to mine and she laughs. "So we aren't too far apart then."

"Alright, If you could all line up in numerical order that would be great." The man who led us down the hall calls over our voices. Ava's face turns slightly pale, suddenly realizing we are going on stage soon.

"It was very nice meeting you Hadley, I hope I'll see you when we both go through to the next round," Ava hugs me for a brief second before waving goodbye. Though she wasn't going very far, she knew it would be rude to talk around 4 other contestants while they were trying to focus on their audition.

One by one we were called to the stage. In the few seconds the giant doors were flung open to let someone through, I saw the bright lights reflecting off the stage floor. The line slowly got smaller and smaller, and I hadn't heard much clapping since one of the first guy contestants had gone through the doors. I haden't seen his face, but I'm going to assume he was cute.
