~One month later~

"Layla, if you were in a room, the people you've killed surrounding you, and the secret file you've been itching to get your hands on were only a few feet away in a different room, what would you expect?" Luke asked, pacing back and forth while I sat on one of the benches, a gun in hand, poking it around. I didn't think twice, before responding with a dumb answer.

"I expect to walk over those bodies," I shuddered at the mental image. "and walk in that room to grab that file like it's yours and leave." I shrugged, distracted with the gun. Despite my nonchalant tone, I was secretly trembling inside. He shook his head, and sighed.

"Okay, okay. Um...expect more danger to come in that room? Something that would challenge you of getting that file." I crossed my leg over the other, and leaned on one arm. Hopefully I'd never have to be in that situation, but knowing my luck, it's bound to happen. I bit my quivering lip.

"Close. Usually, and obviously, if something is highly confidential, they'd put it where it isn't easy to achieve. You'd expect more guards, a security lock, or even both."

"What's the point of this question?"

"The point is, once you get to that room and find a highly complicated security lock, you'd have to know how to open them. If you don't, then you risked it all just for you to not even attain your goal," he explained, leaning against a wall.

"So you're gonna teach me the different kinds of security systems, codes and locks? Cool!" I didn't get into those that much when I was younger, so I was next to clueless in that area.

"Well, I can't name every single one. There's thousands of different kinda out there, but the key is to think logically, and have common sense. For example, you come across a password kept lock, but you obviously don't know what it is, what would you do?" He asked.

"Um...I'd threaten someone to tell me?" I guessed sheepishly.

"You are aware that either they'd stay loyal and rather die than give you access, or just call more security. You're in their territory, remember?"

"Oh, yeah. Okay, I'd...blow it up with a bomb," I smiled triumphantly. He shook his head with a frown on his face, and I sighed. I just wanna go home.

"Hey, guys. How's training?" Cody walked in, heading towards the guns. Luke shook his head, and had said that I was 'hopeless' psh, it's just security. I was actually pretty good with combats and weapon handling, since I had been an expert on it before.

Cody is one of the few assassins left that wasn't killed off. Luke had explained how a lot were getting killed more than usual, and I asked why but he had said that it wasn't his place to tell.

There were six of us in total from what I'd know of. They said that there was more than six, but they were either off in a mission, or living in a different part of the country. Luke had said that there are a total of three-hundred assassins placed around the country, and I had said it was a lot, but he disagreed and used his math knowledge to tell me. He had said that the ratio of number of assassins before to number of assassins now, was 300:1500 and I was surprised by the difference.

This past month, I've been remembering my skills little by little. One demonstration from Luke, and it came back me. Although, I was younger at the time and he said that I was supposed to learn more advanced skills.

Luke had said that he expected for us to move slower, but he was surprised by how fast I was learning. He just had to ruin that compliment saying, "But you've done it before, so it's not that much of a surprise anymore."

We moved on from combat, to which he still tells me to practice on my own time. He had started teaching me security systems. He also said that he needed to make me 'smarter' since I lost all my 'logic' from before. I get great marks on my subjects, and he calls me dumb.
