Pregnant

Eliza's perspective:

Almost two months passed since Thomas and I hooked up. One morning I started to feel quite sick. I ran to the bathroom and started to vomit. I knew something was wrong. Then I realized something. Those two nights with Thomas.

I grabbed my purse and headed straight to the nearest pharmacy. I bought a pregnancy test and ran back home trying not to vomit. I took the test, praying that there would only be one line. But I was greatly wrong. I started crying as I saw two lines on the test. Those two lines changed my life. I knew it wasn't Alexander's child, I'd be dead if he found out. I knew it was Thomas' child. I didn't know what to do. I could go Angelica's and Peggy's and explain the whole situation, but I don't think they'd be too happy to hear about this. After a while of thinking about what to do, I decided to go to Thomas'. I really didn't want to upset Angelica, Peggy, or Alexander. I start running to Thomas' house, even though my stomach hurt and I had a headache I just kept running 'til I got to Thomas' house. I knocked on his door out of breath. He opened it.

"Eliza? What's the matter?" He asked me.

"Thomas, I'm..I'm pregnant," I told him, tears in my eyes. Thomas looks at me confused.

"Well, why are you here, and not with Alexander?" Thomas asks me

"No joke, he'd kill me if I was pregnant with another man's child," I said with a shiver going down my spine.

"W-wait.." Thomas stutters.

"What is it?" I ask him.

"If it isn't Alexander's child... Whose child is it?"

"Do you really think I'd be here to tell you I'm pregnant with his child? Of course, it's yours!"

"So what're you going to do with it?" Thomas asks me

"I don't want to abort it, I'd rather keep it, to be honest."

"But what're you gonna tell Alexander? You can't just walk up to him and say 'Hey! Your greatest enemy got me pregnant!'" Thomas says sarcastically

"I'll persuade him that the baby is his, it's all I can really do."

"So you're going to raise him with Alexander..." Thomas says a bit sadly

"We'll get a divorce soon enough and I know it,"

"When's soon?" Thomas asks me

"A few months tops. Well, I hope.." I sigh. "I better get going now."

Without letting Thomas say a word, I walk back to my house, thinking of what my life would be like now. When I open the door, Alexander is in there.

"Hello, Alexander. I have some news for you," I say, looking down a bit.

"And what is it?" He asked I could detect traces of anger in his voice.

"I'm..pregnant!" I say, trying to sound happy. Alexander looked confused.

"Pregnant? But we never.." Alexander says this time sounding even angrier

"Haha yes we did, silly!" I laugh nervously, cutting him off.

"Ugh! Eliza you know I don't want a child!" Alexander groans

"Then maybe you should've put a condom on," I say, trying to act seriously.

"You're going to abort that child, Eliza." Alexander snaps

"What? No! This is my child and I'm keeping it!" I snap back at him completely shocked he would say that.

"It wasn't a question, Eliza." He yells at me. I can feel my eyes watering up

"Fine!" I shout at him tears flowing down my face. "If you're getting rid of this child, you're getting rid of me!" I shout at even louder and storm off to Angelica and Peggy's, still crying. I finally get to their apartment and knock on the door, still sobbing.

Angelica opened it. She saw my tears and immediately hugged me.

"What'd he do this time?" She asked angrily but sympathetically. I already saw Peggy making tea for me.

"Angelica, Peggy, you're going to be aunts," I tried to say happily and smile through the tears. Angelica froze and Peggy looked at me. "What?" They both asked at the same time. I was debating if I should tell them if the father was Thomas or Alexander. I decided to tell them the truth.

"And...Alexander's not the father.." I said, looking down.

"What?!" They both said again, even more, shocked.

"It's Thomas, Thomas Jefferson," I said.

"Eliza, does Alexander know?" Angelica asked me.

"No, I told him it was his child, and he got so angry at me," I answered.

"Eliza, you know better than this!" Peggy said.

"I know, I know," I said.

"Well, what's your plan?" Angelica asks me raising an eyebrow

"I'm keeping the baby and raising it with Alexander until we get a divorce, which won't be too long."

"A divorce!" Shout both Angelica and Peggy

"Well, I hope so. Our relationship is definitely not the best, and I love someone else," I say quietly

"Do not tell me you are in love with Thomas," Angelica said. I looked down a bit. "Eliza!" Peggy said. I felt ashamed of myself. If I just hadn't gone to the club, none of this would've happened. I didn't know what to do anymore. I felt Thomas was the only one on my side. Not even my own sisters supported me during this.

"Well, I should get back home..." I lied, trying to wipe the tears away. I pull away from Angelica and leave their apartment without saying another word, and start running to Thomas' house as fast as I can. I knock on his door, still crying. He opens the door.

"Eliza? What's wrong?" He said, taking me inside.

"Alexander got so mad at me even though I told him it was his child, so I went to my sisters' house and told them the truth, but even they didn't support me," I said while choking on my tears.

"Eliza, I'm so sorry I put you through all this," Thomas said with disappointment in his voice. "But I just want you to know I love you, and I'm going to love this child too." His eyes start watering up. Tears start streaming down his cheeks but I can tell they're not tears of sadness. I could tell they're tears of happiness he starts smiling and says, "I can't believe I'm going to be a father."

"I'll be back, I have to get the divorce papers," I say to Thomas who is now smiling even more. I finally felt like my life was turning around.
