ALEXA

Monday 24th September

"Holy shit," I murmured as I clicked on the article.

My eyes widened as I scrolled through and I cursed myself mentally for being the cause of this predicament.

My bedroom door swung open and Isabelle stood in the doorway, her eyes wide and hands flailing in the air.

"Prince Colton renounced his title!" She exclaimed.

"I just read it," I said, placing my phone back on my dresser.

Isabelle furrowed her brows and leaned against my door, "In the news, it said that he mentioned his decision was influenced by his newfound associate."

Shit. This asshole.

"Hm, interesting." I chuckled nervously as I drummed my fingers against my thigh.

"Hey um, you don't happen to have his number by chance?" I asked.

She bit her lip in concentration as she thought then nodded her head, "Yeah I think I do. I'll send it to you. But how is he? Did he seem a bit off? Anything that tipped you off that he'd renounce his title?"

"He called me a fatter, fashion-challenged version of you."

Isabelle covered her mouth and her eyelids crinkled as she stifled a laugh.
"That sounds like Cole."

I nodded, "Yet he didn't seem all that bad. He's definitely an asshole but I still don't hate him. I have very mixed views."

Isabelle winked as she folded her arms across her chest, "And he's a cutie."

She was definitely right, Cole was certainly a looker with his sharp angular face structure, dark eyes and long dark hair.

I snorted, "An angsty cutie."

She shrugged, "Anyway. How's Nate?"

I sighed and threw myself back on my bed.

"C'mon we all knew this wasn't going to be easy." She tsked.

"Is there any way of this working out?" I asked.

When she took a while to reply, I sat up to look in her direction only to see her grimacing.

"I'm afraid not. Dad's not going to allow it. Only way you can date Nate willingly is if you're not royalty anymore by renouncing your title. Which you can't without dad's permission as well."

"That doesn't make sense. The whole point of me renouncing my title is because I don't want to be controlled by the palace system anymore yet I need permission to get out of it?" I cried.

It was Isabelle's turn to sigh, "It sucks. I know. Sometimes we just have to accept it-"

"No."

Her eyes flickered over at me and her lips upturned into a smile, "Ah, famous word from Alexa. The one to always defy the system."

"I'll find a way. I'm not going to conform to these shitty rules anymore. Trust me, I'll find a way."

I had just finished packing the last set of clothes back into my dresser when I heard the sound of an engine coming from outside the window.

I quickly ran to the window and peered outside to see a black motorcycle parked near the front of the palace.

I was about to return to my packing as I thought it concerned someone else, when I spotted a familiar sticker on the side of the sleek motorcycle.

The driver hopped off the bike, and took off his helmet, revealing his mop of curly brown hair.
