Chapter 2

"The Invite"

Phil's POV

The path from our house to school was filled with turns, crossings and roads both uphill and downhill. Walking along this path alone is very boring and tiring. However, when you're with someone very close to your heart, if that's the case then this walk would be worth the trial.

Oh, how I wish we wouldn't just be–

Walking and thinking deeply, I forgot that Blair was with me. It seemed too that she had slipped and fell on her knees.

What a clumsy girl. Always slipping and falling. I thought to myself as I let out a sigh.

I ran towards her and helped her get up. As our hands touched, I was sucked into a trance. Feeling her soft and warm hands entwined with mine. I was trying to savor the moment as she tried to regain her balance.

If only she'd fall for me, I will surely catch her fall.

When she finally composed herself, she shot me a mean look.

Shoot. Looks like I'm in trouble. I readied myself to run and flee. But my efforts were futile as she grabbed my arm and began slapping it.

“I hate you, you dumb ass! I hate you! I hate you!” she began whining. “Why were you walking so fast? Can't you see that I was struggling to catch up with you? Ugh!” I stopped dead on her tracks.

What is she talking about? I mentally palmed my face.

“Are you making fun of me 'cause you're tall and I'm–”

I right away cut her before she continued blabbing. “No, no, no! I'm sorry okay, I didn't mean to walk too fast. I spaced out for a moment but I promised that it won't happen again.” I explained wondering why am I even doing so in the first place.

“I don't believe you.”, she said sternly as she crossed her arms over her chest and looked the other way.

Uh-oh. What do I do? What should I do? Come on mind...work! This is what I hate when Blair's having her tantrums and I occasionally forget that she's quite a piece of...work. If you know what I mean.

Suddenly, an idea entered my mind.

“Tell you what?” I stated looking into my wristwatch. “It's still an hour before classes start, so, wanna grab some sundae first? It's only a five-minute walk from here.” I said, hoping she'll forget that she's small and all and accept my offer.

She paused for a while probably thinking of being late or not. I just remembered how much of a time conscious she was.

“Alright!”, she said with a huge smile painted on her face.

Shaking my head, I realized that again I fell on her trap. Such a sneaky girl. I would really maul her if she weren't such a cutie.

We reached McDonald's within five minutes as I have said. By that time, we were both gasping for air from all the running and shouting, which she started by the way. She was too excited maybe. As we entered, the place was crowded with people on their way to work, I guess. Added by couples too.

Then it struck me again. How could I ever forget? It's February 14th! Of course, booths and restaurants will be packed with couples even at this early hour.
