Mother, do you hear me?
The deepness of the hole
Long since carved into my soul, and
Waiting to be consoled
Mother, do you see me?
My desperateness, my goals
My unreachable aspirations
My forever stubborn pride
Do you know me as your daughter?
If you do, surely, you'd know
That all I need to be told, right now
Isn't anything I can hold
It's nothing my friends can give me
It's too hidden for them to feel
I need to know I'm worthy
I need to know you're there
I don't always trust you, Mother
I don't always want to listen
Forgive me when I turn away, but
Never forsake me in my agony
Just touch me lightly, on the shoulder
When my body writhes in pain
That will be enough, my Mother
To keep me smiling
For another day
