Rome
Rosedale, a little rich town filled with mansions and expensive cars. Almost everyone here is a showboat of some sort, including my parents. We live in the biggest Victorian-style mansion with a perfect front yard and inside. We have a live-in housekeeper and we throw charity parties every year. I've had a debit card since I was 12 and have my own dance and art studio in the backyard. But we have only been here since the end of may. And I barely even left my studios.
I brush a loose lock of my milk chocolate brown hair from my face. I could tell there were all sorts of paint smudges on my face and clothes. I sighed, slightly satisfied with the work I have done. An all charcoal portrait with yellow contours. My alarm buzzes on my phone, it was already 6 am. I had been up all night and today is the first day at my new school. I had no desire to stop my painting session nor get ready for school.
I rushed back into the house and up into my bedroom. My corgi,Bowie greeted me as I opened my bedroom door. I glanced around my room, it looked more like a tiny apartment without a kitchen. The brick walls were painted bright white except for the wall my bed is against, that one is bright yellow. My room is extremely clean and orderly. My outfit is laid out on my unused bed. A high-waisted black denim skirt, and a white off the shoulder blouse that had pale yellow flowers on it and a pair of white converse.
I took a shower, dried then curled my hair. After I braided it I put on some makeup. I really didn't want to go but what choice did I have.
I made my way down the stairs and out the door without a goodbye from my parents, they were already gone for work. I waited for my cousin Jenny to drive up. The main reason we moved from the city to here was because of My aunt and Jenny. She pulls up in a silver sports car and a huge grin on her face.
Jenny is that girl, she's the pretty blonde girl with bright blue eyes and perfectly tan skin. Although we are family we don't look much alike. For instance, my hair is a milk chocolate brown color, and my eyes a dark forest green and I can only get a little bit of a tan.
"Romey I'm so excited that you are coming to school with me!" she giggled as we pulled out of my driveway. When we pulled up to the school I saw the usual crowds of students. It almost seemed normal, for a second not as terrifying as I previously thought. Jenny parks and we walk up to the school and go to find our lockers.
Luckily since we have the same last name our lockers are right by each other. I put my books into it along with my lunchbox and turn to go to my first class. as I try and cross the hall I notice that everyone is pinned frozen against the lockers. Students of all sizes scatter from the middle of the hallway. I feel Jenny pull me back as a group of five guys in red leather jackets crosses the hallway. They are in perfect formation and are all chiseled like Greek gods. the guy in the front stands out the most, his hair is a blue-black color, and his eyes are a dark brown that almost seemed black.
"What is this?" I ask Jenny who shushes me instantly. I wait trying to figure out why they were walking so slowly. I turn my attention to the other side of the hall. Another group of five guys, wearing black leather jackets, blessed with the features of the marvel Cris trinity, with a hint of the Toms. I chid myself as I think it. God, stop nerding out. I notice the guy in the front of this group. His hair is a golden blonde color and his eyes a pretty hazel.
Then as the two groups meet in the middle of the hallway the bell rings. I look around to see if anyone has moved to go to class but not a single person has budged. We are so close that if I walked in a straight line I would walk in between the two major beefcakes.
"So, I heard you and your boys were on our turf, is that true?" The red jacket boy asked the black jacket boy. Yes, that is what they are reduced to, their jackets.
"Well, Austin we own your turf," Black jacket sneers.
Seriously is this for real? It can't be. Right?
"Really Chandler?" Austin asked his voice amused. I watched as this played out.
"I heard you and Beca had a fun time last night, well I heard it was a good 15 second,"
They aren't serious. Really because if they are that is ridiculous. They are basically measuring each other. Am I going to be late for my first class for this?
"Really Jenny we need to get to class," I insisted. She yet again shushed me, as if it was against the law to talk when they are having some contest to see who is more endowed. I sigh having enough of this. I escape from her grasp and walk behind Austin's gang. I felt hundreds of eyes on me as I am halfway through passing them.
"Who are you?" Austin asks with a sneer. He grabbed my wrist his goons clearing the way for him.
"Someone who appreciates the free education we get as Americans, an education that some people have to fight for," I give him a fake smile before pushing his hand off me.
"Well a lot of people also try and keep all their pretty, pretty teeth in their pretty little mouth," he purred.
"Good for them, dental care is pretty expensive and isn't fully covered by most insurances,"
"I know a couple things your mouth could do besides talk," He put his thumb under my chin and his pointer finger on my bottom lip. I sneered before Kneeing him in the crotch. he doubled over and groaned.
"I have a couple things you could use to get your ego in check," I said sauntering off to my class.
I sat in English doodling in my sketchbook as the teacher passed out the syllabus. I hear the door open but I don't look up until I hear that sneer. Austin slams both of his hands on my desk. I looked up at him lazily, but on the inside, I was screaming. He throws his head back laughing and I look around. everyone is staring even the teacher yet no one does anything. I shake my head and go back to doodling, I prayed that he didn't hear my heart beating or see my eyes dodging around. He slams his fist onto the desk making an even louder noise than before. I sit back with a sigh looked up at him as I cross my arms.
"Can I help you?" I ask giving him a sarcastic smile. He groans as if he is trying to figure out what he was going to next. He rubs his hands over his face running his fingers through his hair, for any other girl they would have fainted but I have already had enough of this guy.
"C'mon," he growls grasping my arm. I use all my strength to stay seated as he pulled clearly getting more and more frustrated. He seemed to muffle a scream in the back of his throat.
"get off me," I pulled my arm but he held his grip on me. "seriously? you're not going to stop him?" I looked around him at the teacher. He was cowering behind his desk.
"dude just let go of her," I heard a voice say, it seemed to catch Austin off guard. He turned and looked over at the source. Sitting there was Chandler. I pull free and gather my things, getting up and leaving. The teacher tried to protest but I just flicked him off and left.
Fuck this school already.
