Prologue

Dinah Jane Hansen is an easygoing 24 year old. With more than 7 siblings and living in a house with at least 20 people, Hansen had to grow up quickly. She was the social butterfly of the family and she was also the one that would help her little cousins with every problem they had. She loved helping people and was determined to change the world.

Growing up with so many people wasn't easy. As a teenager your body changes a lot and when Dinah started to become a real woman, it got harder. At the age of 12 she got her first period during P.E., ironically in first period. She immediately told her mother and that's when Dinah got her own room. Later, she had to share with Funaki, her older sister. That wasn't a big problem since Funaki was very supportive of Dinah and she was strong-willed to protect her younger sister.

When Dinah graduated college at 22, she decided to move to New Jersey. Her mother and father were happily together, her siblings were doing perfect but she wasn't content in California anymore. When her best friend Briannah moved to Miami to pursue her modeling career, she felt empty and alone. She wasn't interested in making new friends or meeting new people.

Dinah Jane wanted to move to a state where High School teachers were highly-paid. So she did some research and apparently New Jersey was one of those states.

When she first moved there she felt really anxious and reserved. At first she didn't feel comfortable at all. Everything was so new and the fact that her neighbor was an ass didn't help at all. She didn't feel like meeting new people, even though that was one of the reasons why she moved away from her home and from the state she grew up in.

In that same year on Christmas eve, she got a call from her mother. Apparently her father had been in a car accident with her little brother Seth, and he was badly injured because he tried to protect his son.

Seth was okay, except from being traumatized a little.

The accident caused Dinah's father to be disabled. Milika wanted and needed Dinah to move back, but her daughter had already found a well-paying job and couldn't just give it up like that. She needed the money to pay the rent of the little apartment she was living in and now she needed it to help her mother. Besides, there weren't any jobs left nearby Anaheim at that moment. She couldn't take the risk.

But she did visit her father and mother. Dinah felt guilty, but she couldn't do what her mother asked her this time.

During that one week she helped her mother more than any of her siblings ever did. It was sad to hear that Milika's other children didn't or couldn't help their mother take care of their father.

And now, 2 years later, we're in that exact scenario again. Milika needed her daughter.

"Dinah, I need you to help me with your father. You know I can't do this on my own." Dinah's mother said softly. Milika had called her daughter after a failed attempt of taking care of her husband and having to call a few nurses.

"I know mother," Dinah Jane sighed through her nose. "I am on my way there. My plane will land in about 6 hours, you know I can't do anything right now." She put her carry-on underneath her chair. "I'm sorry that I couldn't be there immediately. But as you can hear, I booked the first plane ticket I could get."

Milika wiped a single tear that rolled down her cheek. "It's time you move back. I can't rely on Funaki nor Kamila and the boys are having such a hard time at school and just in general. Seth and Gina are too young and you know Gordon... Well, he's 2."

"Mom, please."

"You wanna enjoy your life while you still can, yeah. But your father is disabled. Can't you help me for now? You know nurses are too expensive. I can't afford it, especially not now. Kamila went to college 2 weeks ago and you know how expensive that was."
