The small, faint, light of dusk enters through the trees, the sounds of the innocent animals awaking from a nights sleep. I watch as a small bird makes flight towards its nest, bringing food for its loud, young babies. Its family.

I hear the slightest twig snap, and instantly my dagger is removed from my side and pressed to the neck of a young teenager, my blade causing a single drop of blood to run down his neck. He stands, eyes wide as he raises his hands in defeat.

"Dammit Caleb," I mutter as I remove the blade from my brothers throat, wiping away all traces of blood as I lightly check for further injury.

   "You okay?"

"Ouch," He sarcastically mutters as he rolls his eyes at me. "What was that for?"

I sigh as I begin walking, my brown, untamed hair falling in front of my eyes as my brother tries to keep up with me. "I told you to leave me in peace Caleb, which means you don't get in my way as I think." I smirk, knowing my motherly tone will annoy him.

"But you told me to get you when the sun started to rise." He mimics, his child-like mannerisms reminding me that he is only fourteen. Lightly, I push him into a bush, laughing as he knows he can't compete with me. He still has three years until he'll shift and gain the full power of a wolf, likely becoming an alpha like our father was.

"No I didn't." I state loudly, knowing very well that he is right and that I reminded him before he went to sleep, but he doesn't need to know that.

"So, I heard that it's official, we have a new Queen and King." He smiles brightly at me, his dark eyes shining at the mention of Cecilinda, who he's bragged about for the past two weeks.

"No, there's a new King and Queen," I correct him, "doesn't mean they rule over us." I bluntly state, gaining a smirk from him. "They only decide that we aren't the enemy when they're being slaughtered and need help."

"They'd never return the favour. Ever."

"You totally hate her." He states, gaining a small grin from me. "No," I answer,"there's only one person left on this earth that I hate."

"I at least have respect for her for saving your life, Alpha Anaka will get the respect he deserves when his dead body is dumped for the wolves to finish off." I clutch my hand into a fist, refusing to allow him to ruin my day.

Not once, ever, had I met him in person. But if I had? It would've been the last time his lungs inhaled a breath of air. His insides, would've been pooled out in front of him, the last will in him to live, destroyed.

"You know we never learned the name of the alpha that brought us back," Caleb sighed as we continued to walk down the forest pathway, small signs of spring starting to show through, all traces of the harsh winter beginning to fade. "Not all of the Northern Moon pack are monsters."

"I never met him," I state as we continue to walk, "he had returned to the kingdom before I could thank him, that's when you told me we needed to send help." I finish, pushing the image of the fresh gravestones of the men and woman who lost their lives trying to help.

"It was a good cause," Caleb seems to know my thoughts, I lightly smile at him, annoyed he can tell my slightest expressions so easily. "It was a good cause," I state, "but not good enough to cost the lives of our people." I sigh.
