Chapter 12

Jared's POV 

I was determined to find out about her past. Something about her always seemed to throw me off. I never had any power when I am around her. Yes, I know what you are thinking. Jared Dimitrou, one of the biggest and worst wolves in the world would fall for a girl. She was related to Romanov and I was curious about their interaction earlier. I called Marc to do the research for me as I know that he would always find the information I needed. 

As I walked back to the party, I had realized that Anitta seemed really distant from me like she was a thousand miles away. There were times that I have not treated nicely to her and I knew that our marriage was a set up to make my mom believed that I had finally settled down and married someone. Maybe I wanted a wife who would smile and cook for me when I arrive home. That warm and cosy vibe that Anitta gave out really gave me a hard time to blackmail her. 

"Anitta, you okay? You seemed distant," I commented as she turned her head and looked straight into my eyes, a million emotions were going through those pretty green eyes of hers. 

"I am fine, you should go and worry about your business interactions with other. I am fine, really." 

"Okay, I will go up and grab a drink and I will come back soon." I walked away as I saw her sit down on a chair. She must be tired. Instead of grabbing another drink, I decided to call it off and said goodbye to everyone at the party saying that my fiance was not feeling well. 

When I walked back, I saw that Anitta's eyes were clouded with tears but they were yet to be released. Instead, she blinked back and smile at me. A smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. I grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the party leaving her shock with my actions. I pushed her into the passenger seat and drove her home. 

We were silent our whole way back to the mansion and I wished that Anitta would just be as cheerful or maybe nervous as she was before. Yet, no emotion surfaced as I drove through the night. 

As we got home, Anitta excused herself saying that she was tired and went inside the bathroom while I settled down for a drink in the kitchen. When I got back to the room, I realized that she was asleep so I decided to lay down next to her. Unlike every night, she didn't cuddle me anymore. She just stayed where she was. After a while, I realized that I couldn't sleep without her beside me so I pulled her in and called it a night. 

Anitta's POV 

I looked at Jared as he was fast asleep knowing that he wouldn't care about my emotions or anything for the sake of my mind. He was oblivious to the things that happened and yet I didn't seem to remember that he was my fake fiance. Yes, we signed a contract and I would eventually leave him after one year. 

Part of me didn't want to leave while the other part hoped that he would find someone better than me. Someone with more class and more worthy than me. Someone who would seem much, much cleaner than I am right now. 

I lifted his hand up and moved under them, not wanting to wake him up. I went around the house and finally reached the garden. The sky was beautiful but it was the complete opposite of what I was feeling inside. My inner self-wanted to run free and had a reunion with my family. My dad was here along with my sister. We are no longer alone and we are no longer orphans. I looked back at my life, all of those hardships I had passed through. From living in the rat alley to having a first part-time job at 10 to be being up, I realized that I had had enough pain. I suddenly wanted to let go of everything but it had to be after one year was up with the contract. 

I couldn't terminate the contract. He would replace me with my sister and made her pay for my mistakes. I couldn't let him do that to her. Her soul was too pure and innocent. She was raised that way and I intended that she would be the same. Nothing could change my little Rosie and I would do anything in my wheel power to protect her.
