It all starts here

I was too excited and couldn't stop checking my phone to see what the time was. I know I needed to sleep but it was just impossible on so many levels. You see, the next day I was going on holiday with my mum and dad! Well I guess they are, but not biologically. I was adopted at birth and my adopted parents have never tried to hide that from me. I have grown up knowing that and it doesn't make me as a person feel any different and I'm just grateful to have the most amazing parents a girl could ever wish for.
They were taking me on a two week holiday to Italy!! I have always been fascinated with their language and definitely their food. It's where  I actually originate from and I can almost speak fluent. That doesn't really matter so I'm going to stop ranting on now.
"You ready chicky??"
My dad has always called me that. It was thanksgiving around 11 years ago and I'm pretty sure I called the turkey chicky. I guess it has just always stuck ever since.
"Yeah dad, I'm ready." I said, reassuring myself that I definitely had everything and I didn't have to go back and check. Ever since I was little I have had anxiety issues which makes me worry and check things over and over again. I knew I was very prepared this time and made sure I checked everything before I left the house.
"Are you ready honey?" Said my dad  happily to my mum.
"More ready than I'll ever be" she replied giggling and kissing him on the cheek.
"Perfect. Then let's go!" I said cheerfully.
Everything seemed so perfect. Almost too good to be true. My dad had a friend called Rupert and he was a very rich man with a very big driveway. He only lived a couple blocks away from the airport so we could walk down up and down from there. Oh, did I forget to mention that it was 4:20am?? Well, it was. Let's just say that I didn't get ANY sleep at home, but after a while I decided to sleep in the car.
"Sweetie, wakey, wakey." Said my dad in a smooth, calming voice.
"We have arrived at the air port, you slept for most the way" spoke my mum yawning herself.
"Mum. Did you fall asleep as well??"
"No. I'm just really tired, i would prefer to just sleep on the plane. It'll past time quicker."
Why didn't I think of that? I know it's logic, but my mum is so smart in that way. Now I wouldn't sleep during most probably the whole of the long flight.
