The streets of Joplin are so peaceful at night I'm slowly falling in love with Joplin. I start heading home but then some one grabs my shoulder. My legs are weak I barely know anyone I turn slowly to see Grant's face.
"Let's go down to the beach." he says with a smile.
"I have to head home my mom is waiting." I say softly.
"Call your mom and tell her your going to beach with me."
"But she umm..." I stutter.
"Here give me your phone I'll call her." he grabs my phone and calls my mom.
"Hi this is Grant and I'm Veronica's new friend, I wanted to ask you if it was cool if she comes to the beach with me and my friend Howard." He smiles. "Okay I'll take your honey home safe and sound." he laughs and ends the call. "Your mom is cool with it and I'll be taking you home."
"Umm okay" I look down at my shoes.
"Let's go to the beach,some bands are playing there. Since I saw you were wearing a Nirvana shirt I thought you'll be interested." Grant smiles and walks me to the place where the bands are playing. I see Howard not far from the stage, we walk up to him.
"Hey Howard." Grant says.
"Hi Grant. Hi Veronica." Howard smile. His smile can melt any girls heart.
"I think Arctic Monkeys are playing tonight." Grant says.
"I love Arctic Monkeys" I smile.
"You do?" Howard ask.
"Yeah" I say softly.
"Me too" Howard smile at me.
"I think they are about to sing" Grant says and looks at Howard.
"We are Arctic Monkeys and this 'Knee Socks' hope you like it."
"OMG THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG" I yell and clap my hands.
"You got the lights on in the afternoon
And the nights are drawn out long
And you're kissing to cut through the gloom
With a cough drop coloured tongue
And you were sitting in the corner with the coats all piled high"
I jump and clap I cant believe I'm seeing my favorite band play.
"Some one is too happy" Grant whispers into my ear.

After the concert Grant walks me home. Which is nice but I told him he doesn't have to, I can walk by self. But he said he promised my mom he will take me home.
"So you like it here?" Grant ask as we approach my house.
"Yeah it's quiet peaceful and so beautiful."
"Is it really?"
"Yeah I love how quiet it is that you can take strolls at night with no worry."
"It's perfect for you" he smiles.
"Thanks" I look at my shoes."Well this my house" I softly say.
"Well bye"
"Bye"

"Honey wake up breakfast is ready." my mom knocks at my door.
"I'll get up" I sit on my bed. "eventually" I plop back into bed. But really I got to get up today I want to go skateboarding or swimming. I get into the shower and shower quickly. After I get done showering I change into a black crop and acid wash high wasted shorts. I run down stairs and eat breakfast.
"I made pancakes." my mom announces.
"Yummy" I sit down and serve my self pancakes.
"So honey how was your 'date' with Grant?"
"It wasn't a date, we just hung out"
"Whatever.
How was your hang out?"
"Good we went to a beach concert."
"Fun! Did you make a lots of friends?"
"I just met Grant and Howard."
"Are they your friends?"
"I don't know I just met them they are acquaintances."
"Today you should go make friends." my mom smiles and gets up and washes the dishes.
"I thought today I could watch movies, go for a swim, or skate."
"Okay honey. I'm going to work in like half an hour."
"Okay mom" I get up and wash my dish. Should I go swim or watch a movie? First I'll go swimming and then watch a movie or something.
I run up to my room and change into my strapless floral bikini top and floral bikini bottom. My hair is a mess so I put it on a bun. I go outside and get into the pool the water is so warm. The warm sun is amazing I'm probably getting a tan. Sitting in the pool reminds me of the times me and Tristan went to the pools, I miss him so much. He has texted me since yesterday he must be very busy.
The door bell rings I get my towel and run to up the door. But my mom opened first and I try to peek and see who it is.
"Veronica" she yells. I go walk up to her.
"Yes" I say.
"Your friends are here."
"Who?" I turn to see who it is and it's no other than Grant and Howard.
"Hey" I smile.
"Hi Veronica we just wanted to see if you wanted to hang" Howard says with a smile.
"Umm.. I was just swimming and I umm.."I struggle to say.
"If you kids want to go swim it's cool with me." my mom says.
"Yeah sure my house is like two house down from your house we will be back to hang out with Veronica." Grant says.
"Okay sounds like a plan." my mom says and they leave.
"Mom I thought today was a my alone day." I say
"Honey they are your friends you got to enjoy your summer Veronica."
"Fine whatever I'll be in the pool." I go back to the pool and just float there.
A few minutes I hear my mom talking to someone. Then I hear Grants voice and footsteps getting closer.
"You kids have fun and be careful I'm going to work bye, bye honey." my mom says and leaves. Grant and Howard just stand there like they are frozen and keep looking at me.
"You guys can get in if you want." I say and Howard plops into and then Grant gets in.
"Your mom is really chill." Howard says.
"Yeah she just wants me to have fun and enjoy my summer before my last year of high school." I say.
"Cool." Grant says.

We keep swimming and talking about life. I learned a lot Grant likes to play guitar, Howard is a drummer, they are both in the same grade as me and other things.
We get out of the pool and I go shower and change into my black crop top and shorts. The boys go shower and change too.
I sit in the living room and look thru the movies to see what is good. Then the guys come from the bathrooms.
"Umm you guys want to stay and watch a movie or something?"
"Sure but a scary movie." Howard smiles.
