S.H.I.E.L.D. likes to keep their agents close and their weapons closer. But Ava Starr managed to escape during it's collapse, and has been on the run ever since. But with new instructions to hunt her down, she's safe from no one.

An uneasy emptiness has made it's home within everybody's favourite patriotic man, and it's no easy cure.

Perhaps saving a certain weapon-gone-rogue might fill what's missing and bring Steve's smile back. However, Ava isn't what Steve imagined at all. Her hurt is different than his, than anything he's ever known. He can't fix her, and she can't fix him. Perhaps he'd been looking in the wrong place all along.

Not cured, but safe, Ava settles down into life with a number of retired-superheroes. The pain is still present and growing stronger by the day.

It's a matter of a race against time to save the weapon gone rogue.
