•• 10:00 pm ••His skin glistened with sweat under the layers of clothing he'd been forced on. The varsity style jacket for which he was certainly too old for cuffed loosely at his wrists pairing with plain jeans. It was nothing compared to the abounding number of shimmer embellished rags he'd just changed out of. Yet, comfort was the last thing to cross his mind when he thought of the simplicity of his outfit. These plain jeans carried more weight than any other stylish ensemble he'd ever been fit into.
They carried the pains of the youth, along with their hearts and minds. they carried the stress of his team. They carried his own motivation, his reasoning for having made this his life. These jeans showed who he was.
They showed that he wasn't always all laughs. That under the costumes and makeup, he was real. He was human. He was a human that had done it all. He'd gone to every extent to be standing where he is now. To hear the screams and cries of the ones he had given his life to.
His head hung low in the shadow of the stage. The screams muffled by an earpiece, leaving his head to ring only with his own heartbeat and labored breaths. He held his microphone with both hands as if presuming that if he loosened his grip it would fly away and leave him stranded without a voice once again.
It's unimaginable to even consider such things in his position but it seemed to be the only thought his brain couldn't shake.
what if one day it all disappeared?
what if the family he'd work to build, the boys he'd helped raise one day left him behind?
The thoughts hounded his head day by day. The one fear he had was being a disappointment. To himself, to his fans, or to his members. His voice was angelic, but he strived for better. His dancing was enough, but it wasn't to standard.
He pushed himself past human limits to change others lives and enjoyed doing it. He enjoyed the life of stress and intensity If that meant that somewhere in the world his voice and the words he sang could help a tired soul out of a bad moment or bring a broken heart to tears. In his passionate, exhausted eyes, it was gods work.
He kept the insecurities to himself, under a frighteningly heavy mask of laughter. One he had become too tired to lift off completely. Though, To say his signature laughter was always used to mask his distress would be a lie. He loved to laugh and knew himself enough to say that he was a genuinely lively person. His lighthearted, caring personality was what helped capture the hearts of millions. He the ability to pull a smile from the coldest-hearted person in any room. Still, at the end of the day, once the last song was sung and lights had drawn, his mind flooded once again.
The vicious cycle made him work harder to hear the screams. It made him double his life for the sake of his fans. For the sake of seeing that overjoyed glint in their eyes as they sang along to his words.
He didn't know it, but he changed their lives. He brought some hearts back to their youth and lead others down the long road of maturity. He protected their innocence and pulled them into his arms so they could weather the storms to come together.
Their love for each other was astounding and no party would ever realize just how much they were valued in the eyes of the other.
Kim SeokJin was their motivation and they were his strength. It was a bond he would come to realize had nothing to do with how hard his gripped on to his microphone.
Slowly the room brightened, causing a panic from the crowd. the bright lights revealed seven men all dressed identically, with the exception of an accessory here or there. They stared at each other, communicating words of encouragement through their silence. Jin's eyes met all of theirs individually as they waited for his nod to ensure he was ready to start. As was usual, his mind cleared as he saw how easily his members calmed at the smile that had appeared unwillingly on his face. He found peace in the muffled screams and swaying violet lights in the crowd.
With a small nod at his smiling leader, he turned to face the crowd, followed by the rest of the members that stood with him. He let his eyes a fall shut and relaxed his hands around the microphone he held in front of his chest.
He had found his strength once again.
