Ellie ran through the alley ways of New York. She could hear the sounds of police sirens getting closer and closer to her, so she pushed herself harder. The backpack on her thumped with every footstep she took, and she thought it was quite annoying, but that was the least of her worries at the moment. She dodged an old homeless man that was making his way down the middle of the alley, before bursting into a busy street. People were walking everywhere and cars were stopped all the way down the street. A police officer noticed Ellie a little ways off, and he shouted before running towards her. She took that moment to bolt across the street, sliding over the hood of a taxi. She disappeared around the corner into another alley. This one seemed darker and much more sketchy than the other one, but Ellie continued making her way through it. She noticed a ladder at the other end of the alley and ran towards it as fast as she possibly could. Once there, she jumped up and pulled it down before jumping up on it and climbing it. Ellie got on the platform just as the policeman got to the ladder. She bolted up the stairs trying to figure out some sort of game plan. If she went on the roof, she would be trapped. But what other option was there other than that? As she got to the eighth story she paused a moment to look below her. The police man was about six stories below her. He was breathing heavily and pausing every few steps. Ellie smirked and continued upwards until she got to the roof. Quickly, she pulled herself up and ran to the other side, looking around. It was about eight o'clock in the afternoon, and the sun was just setting, which made everything have an orangish glow to it.
"Stop where you are!" She heard a voice yell behind her. Ellie slowly turned around and looked at the policeman. He had his gun pulled out and was pointing it at her. She backed up a bit and didn't realize that she was right next to the edge of the roof. Ellie tripped and started to fall backwards. The policeman dropped his weapon and ran towards her but he was just a second too slow. She slipped over the side and her world suddenly went dark.

Ellie jolted awake and found herself in a hospital room. Cords were connected to her every which way, and the steady beeping of the heart monitor was the only sound in the room. Ellie noticed the face mask that covered her nose and mouth and she ripped it off of her face before sitting up and looking around. A couple doctors stood a bit away from the open door, talking quietly. The room she was in was dark, except for the light from all the machines surrounding her. Ellie looked down at the iv in her arm before pulling it out. She detached herself from the rest of the cords that were connected to her before standing up and silently making her way to the door. The doctors didn't pay any attention to her as they continued talking in hushed tones. Ellie looked down at her hospital gown and frowned. She needed to find her clothes and bag. As Ellie stepped outside of the room one of the doctors noticed her and yelled, "Hey!" Before storming up to her. She ducked under his arms and took off running down the hall. As Ellie ran she tried to recall what happened to her before she ended up at the hospital. She didn't have time to think much because a big burly security guard grabbed her and held her up off he ground. Ellie kicked and screamed trying to fight him off. The security guard just grunted a bit as he casually carried her back to the doctors and the room. About twenty yards from them, Ellie heard a loud bang and all of a sudden she was sprawled out on the floor with the unconscious security guard on top of her. She looked up to see a boy about her age holding a broom in his hands. Ellie pushed the guard off of him before standing up. Before she had any time to question the boy he grabbed her arm and dragged her through the halls. They seemed to run in circles for a while until he came to an abrupt stop in front of a room. He crouched down and lock picked the door before swinging it open.
"Your clothes and bag are in here. Hurry up and change." He said before pushing her in. Ellie turned around to face him but he shut the door in her face. She huffed a bit before turning back around and flicking the lights on. Sure enough sitting on the counter were her clothes and bag, neatly folded in a pile. Ellie slid her hospital gown off before putting her clothes back on and slinging her bag over her shoulder. Right as she opened the door the boy grabbed her again and they took off. At the end of a hall there was a door that read in bold STAIRS and he opened the door before pushing her through. They ran down the stairs, their footsteps echoing. Once they got to the bottom Ellie pushed open the doors and they found themselves in the lobby. Another security guard shouted, noticing them, and he took off running towards the two. The boy pushed her through the doors and they ran off back into the city.
