Harry Potter made his way slowly down the Hogwarts Express, trying to find an empty place to sit. Coming upon the last corridor, he found it occupied by only a girl his age. Her face was turned towards the window, and she seemed sad. Frowning, Harry entered. "May I sit?" he asked. The girl looked at him, and nodded.

Harry studied her as he took the seat across from her. She was tiny, smaller than even him. Her hair was jet black, and fall in curls down her back. She had a sharp nose, and dew-drop shaped dark eyes. Her lips were cherry red, and she was smiling faintly. "Hi there. I'm LilyRain, but please just call me Rain."

"I'm Harry, Harry Potter," he introduced himself.

"The Harry Potter?" a red-haired boy, the one whose mother had helped him onto Platform 9 3/4, asked from the doorway.

"The Harry Potter?" Harry questioned.

"The-Boy-Who-Lived. You have the lightening bolt shaped scar on your forehead," Rain explained, pointing on her head where the scar was on his.

"Oh. Yeah," Harry muttered. Sensing he wanted to change the subject, Rain asked them, "So, what do you think Hogwarts will be like?"

As the three began to talk, they did not at first realize the trolley had rolled up. "Anything from the trolley dears?" the witch asked, smiling at them. Rain shook her head as Ron held up a bag of squished sandwiches. "I'm good," he muttered with a frown.

Harry suddenly stood up. "We'll take some of everything, "he said, pulling gold out of his pocket. Rain smirked as she heard the jingle of more coins left inside. Despite her like for Harry so far, he would make an easy victim to pick-pocket later. She would have to remember that for later, if she herself ever got into a bind.

Once Harry sat down, he shared the treats he had bought. Rain nibbled slowly on some chocolate thing, content to listen to the boys talk. She didn't have much to say about anything. Zoning them out, she looked out the window in thought.

Everyone at the orphanage had been upset when they had heard Rain was going to Hogwarts. But no one was as upset as Pipper, Rain's closest thing to a friend, and Snake along with his gang. However, she had been glad of it. Dark Woods school was not the most ideal place for an education.

"Has anyone seen a toad? A boy name Neville lost one," a brown, curly haired girl asked, standing in the doorway. All three of them shook their heads, but the girl entered the cabin anyway.

"I'm Hermione, Hermione Granger. You must be Harry Potter, I've read about you. And who are you two?" the girl asked in one breath, looking at Ron and Rain.

"I'm Ron," the red-head introduced himself. He looked at Rain, "and this is..." he began doubtfully.

"I'm LilyRain, but just call me Rain. Everyone does," she told them both quickly. She wasn't sure if Ron had caught her name from earlier.

"Pleasure," she muttered before turning back to Harry. As they began to talk once more, Rain once again returned her gaze to the window. She didn't even looked up when Hermione stood, said something, and left the cabin. She smirked to herself.

Rain jerked awake as the train slowed to a halt. Jumping up, she quickly threw on her robes. "Come on Rain. You're going to be late!" Ron called from somewhere outside.

"I'm coming! You could have woke me up!" Rain grumbled as she hurried after them.

"We tried. You wouldn't budge," Harry countered, leading the way off the train and onto the platform.

"Sure you did," Rain muttered. Ron and Harry exchanged glances, but did not say a word.

"First years over here! First years this way!" A rugged voice called. Rain glanced around, and spotted its owner. A giant of a man with a rugged appearance stood calling, a lantern in one hand and the other around his mouth. His face was nearly completely hidden by bushy brown hair. Rain smiled, instantly finding herself liking him.

"Hagrid!" Harry cried in delight. He hurried over to the man, closely followed by Ron and Rain.

"Hiya Harry! I see you've made some friends!" the man, Hagrid, greeted them cheerfully. Rain smiled at him as his gaze landed on her.

"Yeah, this is Ron and Rain," Harry introduced them. Rain waved slightly, a bit nervous. Hagrid smiled warmly.

"Yall just wait here. We'll be leaving soon," he instructed. Rain stood close to Ron and Harry, watching as the others gathered. She remained quiet, even when Ron or Harry talked directly to her. She was thinking about the home she had left far behind.

"Alrighty then, let's get a move on! It's a great night for sailin'!" Hagrid called, beckoning the gathered first years to follow him. Fear prickled along Rain's spine as she began to follow the others. She turned to Harry.

"Did he say sailing?" Rain whispered to Harry. He looked back at her. "Yeah, I think so." Rain gulped.

As they reached the edge of the lake, Rain began to panic. Closing her eyes tightly, she got into the small row boat with Harry and Ron upon Hagrid's instruction. She nearly screamed as the bows began to move forward on their own accord. She could barely stand the feeling of the water moving beneath them.

"Are you alright? You look like you're going to be sick," Ron suddenly said loudly.

"I feel like I will be. I hate water. I was nearly drowned when I was younger, and now I can't stand it," Rain admitted in one quick gasp. She then shut her mouth tightly again, fearful of losing what little content she had in her stomach.

"Well, it'll be alright. I'm sure if anything were to happen, Hagrid would be able to solve it. Besides, I'm sure they do this every year. Why should anything go wrong this year?" Harry rumbled, trying to assure her.

Rain peaked one eye open, giving him a murderous look. "With my kind of miserable luck, every single one of these boats would catch fire, and there wouldn't be a single thing anyone could do about it."

Harry stared at her as she clamped her eyes back shut. He and Ron exchanged a bewildered glance.
