The very idea of Susie being nice was completely foreign to Oscar. Sure, she had her moments where she would do something that was decent in the campers eyes. But not once would she ever go out of her way to redeem her rude persona.
Oscar scratched underneath his ear as he shook the thoughts from his head. He shouldn't be thinking about his enemy at this time, he was going to a slumber party with all his camper friends! And Hedgehog would be there! Oscar couldn't think of anything greater than having a slumber party with his best friends at camp!
With the sun setting over the mountain, Oscar whistled to himself as he walked over to Max's cabin, the red-capped bat who was hosting the party for tonight. As Oscar neared the destined cabin, he completely ignored the tiny marshmallow that was hopping along the dirt path. It wasn't until the last second when Oscar finally saw the white puff screaming up at him. Oscar nearly stepped on the marshmallow as he jerked out of the way.
"Woah!"
Oscar lost his footing and landed face-first into the dirt. The marshmallow hissed as it bounced away.
A muffled cry came from the gravel below as Oscar laid there. He trembled as he sat up slowly, his hands over his trunk."Aww, did the wittle baby twip over an itty bitty marshmallow?"
A menacing voice was heard over Oscar's head. He slowly looked up to see the head counselor laying on her flying broomstick. A smug look plastered on her face. Had she been watching the whole time?
"Seriously Oscar, the fact that you tripped over a marshmallow is incredibly sad. It's a miracle you have friends."
Oscar glared up at Susie. He would of furrowed his brows at her, but it was far too painful to move any of the muscles on his face.
"Don't you hab anyting better to do dan follow me around Susie?"
The sudden lisp in his voice made his body freeze up. Why was he talking like that?
It was then Oscar felt a warm wetness under his trunk. He carefully moved his hands away from his face to look down at his hands. His face went pale when he saw his hands smeared with blood. The fall must of caused his trunk to bleed!
Susie scoffed when she heard sniffles come from the young elephant."Oh, get a grip Oscar! It isn't a big deal. You just fell, how bad could it-"
Susie's remark was cut short when she caught a glimpse of the bleeding elephant. His sweater was already stained by the red from his nose. The was already a significant amount seeing from his trunk.
"Eeugh...never mind."
Susie snapped her fingers and began to fly away on her broom, leaving the small elephant behind to cry alone.
"I have much better things to do anyways. I don't have time for an injured baby."
As Susie flew further away, she glanced back at Oscar, he was still sitting on the ground. He appeared to be struggling to find something to plug up his trunk.
"He looks...scared. Huh, typical baby!" She said.
But Susie found herself bringing her broom to a halt in mid-air. She groaned and made a U-turn in the sky, she mumbled to herself as she made her way back to Oscar.
Oscar looked up with tears stinging at the corners of his eyes. His face was a mix of confusion and fear as he saw Susie land in front of him.
"Okay look you big baby, I'm only doing this so there won't be a big mess afterwards. And I don't want you causing a scene! Now hold still."
Susie pulled out her wand and waved it effortlessly in front of Oscar's scratchy face. In a blinding puff of smoke, Oscar shut his eyes tightly and coughed.
In an instant, he felt the fluids dry up from his face and the aching pain in his trunk suddenly lifted. He blinked as he grabbed his trunk and felt all around it. It wasn't bleeding anymore! And his trunk felt brand new!
Oscar felt around his face, it felt soft again, and it was much cleaner with all the scratches and dirt removed. He looked down at his shirt, the blood was gone and it was clean. It was like he never tripped at all."Wha- Susie! You fixed my trunk! Th-thank you! I don't know what to say..."
"You can start by NOT saying anything at all. If you say a word about this, I'll be sure to make the rest of your days here at camp a living nightmare! I only did this because I didn't want a mess on my camp. Now scram!"
Oscar scrambled to his feet and walked away quickly. Susie floated into the air with her arms crossed. She rolled her eyes and flew back to her cabin.
"What a baby.."
Oscar finally made it to the party with very little suspicion of his lateness.
"At least you're here now." Max said.
Oscar sat next to Hedgehog, who was laying on her sleeping bag.
"Sorry for being late. I ran into Susie on the way." Oscar said.
Hedgehog groaned at the mention of the pink-haired witch.
"Ugh, she give you a hard time?" She asked.
Oscar darted his eyes back and forth before smiling.
"Yeah."
