Adding on from the previous chapters, 

Eyeless Jack aspired to be a tattoo artist in the time he was studying at University to hopefully gain qualification + training to be a surgeon of some sort. 

He finished the courses needing to begin tattooing and worked in a tattoo shop for a year and a half before his incident.
