This is a story of a girl.

She was average, nothing special.

She lived with her parents and her brother,

But this all changed one evening when her father came into her room with her mother.

She was in her room, strumming her guitar.

Humming a tune without much thought.

She switched from chord to chord and fret to fret.

"Can we talk?" her father said.

She didn't know what to expect,

But he told her the word of her dread.

Her mama and papa won't be together anymore,

Or at least in the same house and she was torn.

He told her to stay with her mama,

And assured her it wasn't her fault.

She didn't know what to do,

So she cried and cried.

Her daddy hugged her tightly and she didn't want him to let her go.

"You're going to visit, yeah?" she asked, her eyes really wide.

Her daddy hesitated and nodded but glanced to the side.

She didn't really care and believed it anyway.

Her little brother couldn't understand so he just cried.

"Stay strong," her daddy whispered and she stopped crying.

What seemed like a few nights later although it was more,

They laid on a blanket outside and looked at the stars.

She closed her eyes and wished on every star she could.

"What did you wish for?" he asked.

But the next morning it turned out,

The star didn't listen to what she was talking about.

Her daddy was going to the airport,

So since then, she didn't believe in luck and wish.

She stood on the porch with her dad.

But didn't say anything, what is there to add?

She knew there will be no more tea parties or hiking trips.

Her daddy hugged her once more.

"Old friend, I guess this is or goodbye," her daddy said as they hugged.

She hugged tighter and didn't want to let go.

"But we'll meet again someday," he said.

Eventually, she let go and sat on her porch.

Secretly hoping he'd come back to live there once more.
