A rub to the temple and an exasperated sigh, followed by "No."

George Augustus Frederick shot his stepmother an incredulous look, not quite believing what he had just heard.

"No?", he repeated almost shriveling under the hard, cold gaze the queen shot him. Almost.

"No," she repeated and turned her attention back to the stacks of paperwork before her. Condolences sent by the folk mostly, many of them containing one question. What will happen to them now, that King George III is dead?

All of England expected for his eldest son, George Augustus to become king.

But Queen Y/N is not having any of it.

"You cannot just say 'No' to me asking for my birthright!", George exclaims, shock evident all over his face.

Y/N's blue eyes met George's own and the obvious victory in her eyes sent a shiver down his spine as she said "Oh, but I just did."

"You have no rights to do this. I will call upon-" "Call upon who? The next priest you find? May I remind you that King George III, your own father, loved me more than you? Unless his statement in his will that claims me to be Queen and only me is not proof enough, I have plenty of other facts I can name you."

George glares at Y/N and she knows exactly what is going through his mind right now. His wish for Y/N to rot in hell. And this look on his face let a smirk tug at her lips, to which his glare only deepens and he asks "Why are you grinning like that?"

Y/N shrugs slightly and turns her focus back on the current paper she's working on - a statement regarding what will happen now; the answer to everyone's lingering questions.

"One day I will wipe that smile off your face and you won't see it coming," George hissed and Y/N waved him off "Surprise me."

The nonchalance was enough to send George off the edge.

Just as he approached her desk, Y/N said "Your sister Elizabeth is to be sent to the Holy Roman Empire to wed a prince."

George froze in his step and his glare softened into shock once more, worry mixed into his gaze now, too.

"His name is Frederick, they will marry this coming April," the queen continued, not looking at her eldest stepson. She had always hated George's children, but George Augustus the most.

"You...you can't do that," George breathed, not content with this decision.

He could tell that all Y/N has done since his father's death is arrange opportunities to keep her stepchildren in check. George has a feeling that, in his father's death, Y/N was anything but innocent.

"I can and I will," Y/N replies coldly, "She will head there in two weeks so she can get to know her future husband a little. That makes the wedding more pleasant."

"Elizabeth is only thirteen, you can't possibly expect of her to marry a stranger at this age!"

Y/N huffs a laugh and finally spares another glance at George "I was married at eleven. Edward was a complete stranger and nine years older than me. Frederick will be fourteen when they marry and until that wedding, those two have approximately five months time to get to know each other. By their wedding they will definitely not be strangers anymore."

"This is unbelievable," George shakes his head.

"You will also be wedded. Also the following April, a week after your sister. You will marry your cousin Carolina, she is seven years younger than you, I don't think that will be a problem."

The smile Y/N sends him makes him feel sick to the stomach. He can't believe this. This woman actually wants to marry him and one of his sisters off to people they both barely know - and him to his cousin of all people!

"I won't marry her," George says, his lips pressed to a thin line.

Y/N only smiles wider "Oh my dear, but you don't have a say in this. The dates are set and Carolina can't wait to marry you. You will get a nice home in the countryside, you can even move to Hanover with her if you wish. Anywhere you want."

"Why would I do that when my responsibilities lie right here?"

"Because you have no responsibilities right here."

George doesn't believe his ears anymore. Then again, it's nothing new that he has no idea what to think or say.

All he does is glare at his stepmother one more time, hiss "You won't get away with this," and leave her office.

Y/N could only smile at the door as it slammed shut.

"I already have."
