I picked up my pace as I held the cradled cloth in my hands. I couldn't let them get me. Not now, not ever. Especially not what I hold dear to me. That led my eyes to glance down at the bundle in my arms. I had to protect him. And tonight I knew it would take hours to lose them. This little one didn't have that long if I kept him with me.

Silently growling in annoyance, I ran into an alleyway while hearing their footsteps pound after me. Lunging my legs sidewards, I jumped sidewards as I sprung off the walls. I finally came to the top and the rain came down heavier. A small cry left the bundle in my arms and I held him against my chest as I ran forward. Jumping from building to building I finally came to a small street. No sound. No danger. We were alone.

My eyes then flickered in fear of what to do next. A small light then caught my eye as I looked over at the building hidden behind large metal gates. My feet padded me to the large stone shaped into a rectangle. The words engraved upon it read, 'Westside Orphanage'. My vision blurred a bit as I heard a slight cry again.

"Shh..." I whispered bringing the joy up towards my face. My hood gave him more shelter as I peeled back enough of the cloth to see his face. His little brown ears and emerald eyes perked out into view making a tear slip. He blinked up at me as I quietly cried and pressed a quivering kiss against his forehead. "You will be safe here." He blinked back before shutting his his eyes as I covered him and pulled him against his chest.

Jumping over the fence, I walked up the concreted pathway as puddles of rain squished against my shoes. Then coming up onto the porch, I saw a dull light shining down on us as I knelt down.

"They're going to take good care of you sweet boy." I whispered taking one last glance at this perfect little child. He then cried making me smile a sad smile before I kissed all around his face. "I promised I would protect you and care for you, but I am unable to. So I'm going to give you the next best option." Looking up at the large handle on the door, I subtly put the boy onto the ground as he began crying again. It was hard for me as I stood up. I just wanted to hold him and protect him. He was to young to lose his mother. But this is the best I can give him at this point in time.

Swinging on the handle loudly three times, I waved with quiet cries as I leapt away from the door and out of side. His cry became louder before the door open for a woman to immediately look down at him.

"Oh." She said sympathetically. Picking him up, I watched from a far distance and continuously wiped tears and raindrops from my face. He was taken inside and out of side. Looking down, my hood covered my face as I baled my fists against the alleyway side.

"There she is!" I Heard a yell and looked up wide eyed to see them after me. Letting out a shaky breath, I bolted around the corner making my cloak follow with a loud swinging drape after me. My feet echoed up the road as I maintained a far distance from the orphanage. Goodbye little boy. Goodbye.
