16 years later... -

{Harry's POV}

I sat silently against my window frame staring out at the rainy day. I hated rainy days. They were always filled with sadness and depression. My room was quiet as I slowly shut my eyes and leant against the window frame. That was until he came in.

"Oh Harry!" He called and I opened my eyes to feel someone wrap their arms around me.

"Yes Louis?" I asked chuckling at my best friend. He giggled up at me and shrugged before resting his head on my shoulder.

"You're my best friend." He whispered as I ruffled his hair laughing.

"And you're my friend." My only one at that. Everyone else here thought I was weird. That thought I was impossible since I was different. But Louis here was the only one which though I was fascinating. He smiled a goofy smile at me before letting me go and beginning to play with my ears. "Hey!" I whined as I flattened my massive furry ears against my hair. My tailed swished beaten us as I gave an unimpressed looked to my best friend.

"What? They're so furry." He giggled as I stood up and shut the curtain. Then walking over towards my bed, I fell on it before curling up. Facing away from Louis. "Well what's your problem?" He giggled though I stayed silent silently stroking my tail and staring at the wall. "Harry?" A weight came down on my bed before a hand touched my shoulder.

"Why am I so weird Louis?"

"You're not weird. I'm weird!" He laughed trying to lighten the mood though the frown stay on my face. "Aw Harry." He cuddled up behind me as I rolled my eyes and smiled at the idiotic boy.

"You think I'll be adopted?" The question always on my mind left my lips before I had a chance to stop it.

"I don't know Harry. I hope not. So you and I can stay together forever!" How is he a year older than me? Though I'm sixteen and a half, that makes Louis seventeen and a half. The orphanage has as trick policy that once yours eighteen. You have to leave. I couldn't handle the thought of Louis being kicked out onto the street. Where will he go? How will he support himself?

Suddenly turning around, I enveloped my arms around him as my tail pulled his waist closer.

"Harry-

"You can't leave me." I whispered shutting my eyes tightly as the boy returned the embrace.

"I promise I won't." He whispered back in a monotone voice. I knew he was lying. He can't keep that promise. Not to me. Not to anybody.

"Don't say things you don't mean. You know I hate that." Louis kept quiet before stroking my tail.

"I mean it Harry. They can't separate us. No one can." His face rested in my hair and against my still flattened ears.

"Louis-

"LOUIS!" We heard a yell from up the hall interrupting me. "HERE! NOW!" Louis let go of me before sitting up.

"What have you done this time?" He smiled before putting a finger to his lips. Then standing up, he left the room shutting the door behind him. I sat on my own silence before my eyes glanced out towards the windows. I wonder where life will take me and what it holds.

I sat quietly with Louis at the end of the long dining table as I silently ate dinner. Louis was still complaining about how he had received a small hand beating for thinking it funny to let the orphan chef slip over his 'forgotten' food. The cane was what this penalty was. I felt bad for the boy. Then again, it was kind of funny.

Children here began to point and whispered while looking at me. My ears ears kept flat against my hair as I kept to myself.

"Stupid people. Hurting me. Hmph. It was just a little prank."

"Louis..." I whispered tugging at the side of his shirt as he looked at me with a massive pout. His eyes sorted into sorrow as he saw me on the verge of tears. "Why are they mean...?" He looked over at the other kids and growled before wrapping me in a hug.

"Because they don't understand Harry." He said as I shook my head.

"D-don't understand what?" Louis patted my back and smiled faintly at me.

"How special you are." How am I special? I'm just a mistake. A rare mistake. The dining hall does then opened up and everyone looked up too see old lady Margret their looking join us. She was a nice woman. When she wanted to be anyway. Louis didn't like her. He thought she persons ally hated him but he doesn't understand her low tolerance level for his, let's say 'immature', behaviour. "Oh look the hag..." He grumbled picking up his bread.

"You may be excuse from lunch. But be aware that we have people here to adopt." Everyone's face lightened up though I shrugged it off. Not like they'd adopt me anyway. Lots of children stood up and bounded outside. Probably trying to impress the people here. Show them they're worthy for adoption.

"I think I'll go back to my room." That's where I spent most of my time. It just helps me avoid the fact at what I freak I really am. I stood up and patted Louis' shoulder as he sighed at me. He could see the pain in my eyes. And quite frankly, he was the only person who saw the pain in them.

Scurrying past everyone else that stayed with their hatefulness glares, I retreated from the room and ran back into mine. Where I could be myself. And not be judged.
