Masons eyes followed mine and widened when he saw my mother. As soon as she saw who I was with she left.

"Well then. That was..." I cut him off.

"Awkward, intense, weird. Did I cover it?" I let out a small laugh to lighten the mood.

"Yeah pretty much. I guess I should probably take you home." I nodded my head in agreement and got up from the table.

As soon as we stepped outside it started pouring rain. Quickly we ran to his car and jumped in.

"Guess I have great timing, huh?" Masons voice was laced wih sarcasm as he spoke.

We both looked at each other and busted out laughing. Just like the ride over it was comfortably quiet. That is until we got to my house.

"Listen, if you need to get away from here just call. I'll be there." Mason grabbed my hand making me look at him.

This was the side of Mason no one gets to see. Only me.

"Thank you, Mason." I grabbed my bag from thee back and took off into the house.

Before I walked in. I turned around to see Mason wave and send me a reassuring smile. I walked into the house only to see my mom standing by the window. She was hiding behind the dark curtain.

"Why won't you just listen to me." My mom whispered as she watched Mason leave.

"Because your wrong. He is a nice guy. Whatever shit you have with his family will not get in the way of me being friends with him." My mother stared at me with a shocked expression.

"Our 'shit' is your shit. We are family." My mother shouted as she took small steps towards me with every word.

"Mandy didn't have to deal with this. So why do I." I shouted as a loud rumble of thunder shook the windows.

"Because Olivia. You are choosing a boy over family." My mother was now standing beside me

"No I'm not. You are trying to make me choose. Which is something I will not do. So until you get off your little high horse I will be staying at Avas."

As soon as I said that my dad walked in.

"Veronica, can I talk to you for a second." My dad glared at my mom then when he looked at me his face softened. "Sweetheart can you go upstairs for a minute."

I sent a small smile to my dad and walked upstairs. Throwing my bag on my bed I stripped out of my clothes and put on some dry ones. I sent Ava a text telling her that I was coming over. Once that sent I decided to go downstairs to see what was going on.

"Veronica you can't make her hate the same people we do. We both agreed to let her learn on her own." My dads voice grew soft as he continued.

"Fine but when she is heart broken because of him I don't want to hear her crying about it." My mom snapped as I walked into the kitchen.

"Well I'm gonna go stay at Avas tonight." I showed them the bag making my mom leave the room.

"Liv, I really wish you would stay." My dad pleaded.

I didn't want to argue with my dad but I also didn't want to stay here. I knew staying would only cause another argument.

"Dad, if I stay mom and I will argue again. I'm getting tired of it. I get she doesn't like my choice in friends but its my life. In two months I will be graduating and I need to be making my own decisions."
