"Nature to be commanded must be obeyed"

1|JOY OF A NEW LIFE

The boat softly and steadily rocks back and forth of the waves. Soft rays of the sun shine with joyful rays upon the boat carrying a family, which sails soundly on the world's ocean. Not a single cloud paints the sky on this morning, which gives them smooth waves to sail upon. The father and the son row as the boat is not too small and carries only three people, which soon are about to turn four as the mother is expecting and will give birth to their second child which will birth them wonder and joy.

A loud ear-piercing scream is heard and the peace inside the cabin of the boat. Forcing the father to abandon his duties at rowing and hurry towards his wife where she lies on the bed. "Do not worry, my love" She speaks to him when he enters, the sweat dripping down his forehead just as it does hers. She has been in labor for the past hour. He walks over to her and goes down on his knees as he takes her hand into his and kisses the back of her hand. "I will get us to the new land. Hold on, my love. Hold on" He whispers to her.

He then leaves to join his son with the rowing, as the two of them will make the boat go faster and therefore will reach their destination much quicker. The woman takes a deep breath as she holds onto the sheets. The pain ripping through her body like never before. The seconds are long to pass, and the minutes even longer. She tries her hardest to breathe through the pain and do what has had done when she had her first child, which in her defense was not nearly as painful as this birth is becoming.

The glint of sunlight makes it into the room and onto the woman as she lies there and brings another life into this world. Within her mind, she goes over the Bible and tries to remember all the worlds that the late Father Lake had said. The woman's mind is everywhere, yet she prays to God that he could be there for her. And while God cannot be there for her, someone else can. The woman notices that in one corner of the room, a vine has started to appear, and then a man appears from out of the blue.

When she was about to scream, he puts his finger on his lips and shushes quietly. "Hush now, would not want to attract your husband here. I have come here to not do harm, for a life is at stake and a life is about to arrive into my world. My dear, may I hold your hand?" He asks the woman kindly. His green eyes stare at her as the woman finds this sense of peace rush through her when she stares into his eyes. The man stands there proudly, and it is a man which she has never seen.

At the same time, there is a feeling of warmth that goes through her, as if she should trust him, which is what she does. Without even speaking, the woman nods her tired head. A wave of pain was about to take over her, but as soon as the man touches her, all the pain disappears from her body. With this shock in her eyes, she stares at him as he holds her hand. The man does nothing but give her a gentle smile, to comfort the woman and bring her some peace in her time of need.

She gasps when he holds her hand and a flower appears in the palm of her hands. Just floating in the air above her palm. "A flower will always suffer through the harshness of winter yet in spring it will live once more and show the strength. Guard your own flower from harm, for within her life harshness will be invited, and she will have to suffer before she can truly live" He whispers to the woman. As her eyes are on the flower, she then goes up to look at him, but the man is not there at all.

The flower which is a simple rose falls down onto her palm where he lies. The woman does not feel any pain when she delivers her child, and it is when her child cries out that she knows that she has done it. Exhausted and yet filled with intense joy, the woman holds her baby girl in her hands. The man seems to disappear from her mind, but his words are still within her mind where they will stay for a long time, always echoing in the back of her head, reminding her of what had happened on this boat.

The father gasps when he sees the sight as soon as he enters the cabin. His wife rocking a baby in her hands. The sweat still visible and her hair is everywhere, yet the love in her eyes can be seen when she looks up at her husband. "It is a girl, my love" She speaks to him as he walks towards the bed and towards his wife and newborn daughter. The child is asleep and softly cooing in her arms. Gently, the woman hands her newborn daughter to her husband. The baby is wrapped in a blanket to keep her warm and safe.

Seeing this sight, her husband and her baby girl together, does make her smile."What shall we name her?" He asks his wife, does not look at her. The peaceful happiness between the two of them, between the three of them, is beyond words. With that smile on her face, the woman speaks the name of her daughter, which only came to her this second. "She shall be named Asherah" She says to her husband. The father hands back the baby to her mother, but he does admire the little girl, which is much smaller than their son had been. "As Asherah, a beautiful name for our beautiful daughter" He says as he sits down on the bed and comforts his wife and holds his daughter with her. Soon enough, their son join the hug. A joyful, happy family sailing the ocean towards a new beginning.
