Melissa felt like she was burning alive but also living in a dream. She hadn't told anyone that Hyde had kissed her, but at the same time, Hyde had kissed her! The blonde pursed her lips at the thought, gripping her backpack tight as she checked over her outfit before leaving the house.
Wearing her usual white dress and platform shoes, she was greeted with a slight breeze, the skirt dancing. She trotted over to Forman's and hopped in the car where he had already been waiting.
"Ready for that math quiz?" Her friend inquired and panic shot through Melissa.
"We have a quiz today, oh my gosh, I've been so busy with work I totally forgot to study!" She exclaimed and nearly cried out of frustration. At least now she knew why she had tied a string on her finger. It must've been to remember to study. Mental note to never waste any more of Jan's string.
"I could sit in front of you?" Donna appeared in the front seat, her backpack slung across the floor carelessly.
"You're a Godsend, Donna, seriously." Jekyll took a moment to hug the redhead from over the back of her seat.
"Yeah, just don't mention it if I climb the lattice into your room looking for a hiding spot one night," Donna responded, patting the blonde on the head.
"Fair enough." Melissa retracted from the embrace and leaned back in her seat as Eric continued his cruize through the neighbourhood.
Arriving at school, Melissa hopped out of the car as Eric was about to park, and he went to shout at her, but she had already slammed the door and was running towards Hyde.
The trouble-making teen smirked at the sight of Melissa jumping from a moving (sort of) vehicle to greet him, and glanced around before placing a small kiss on her head.
'Oh,' Melissa's eyes widened for a fraction of a second, then she had to bite back a cheesy smile as she looked up at the boy in front of her. "Let's ditch." He said suddenly, and she mentally took note of which classes she had. Mulling it over, she decided rather quickly after taking one glance at Hyde and realizing he was patiently awaiting a response.
"Alright." She agreed, nodding, blonde curls bouncing.
The two teens found themselves in the back of the Cruiser, after laying out their jackets, because who knows how many times Kelso and Jackie had already done it back there. Currently, they both lay on their sides, arguing about music. "Okay, okay, this one takes the cake; Fleetwood Mac or The Beatles?" Melissa asked, and although Hyde had an affliction for harder rock 'n' roll type music, it seemed he had been taking a dip into her music taste more and more lately.
"Honestly? I still say 'Rhiannon' was better than 'Got to get you in my life'." He confessed, and she grinned, ear-to-ear, her eyes squinting.
"I knew it. You're totally a fan of them already, you asshole!" Melissa half-heartedly gave him a slap, but he quickly grabbed her hand. His lips found their way to her palm, and she hid her face in his shoulder.
Soon enough, they heard people, and although it could've just been someone passing by, Hyde clamped a hand over Melissa's mouth, stopping her giggles from escaping.
They were silent until the two eventually dozed off in their embrace, only to be woken by a sudden jolt. "Ouch!" Melissa exclaimed as Hyde jumped up as well. "Jeez, Forman, chicken crossing or something?"
Her joke fell on deaf ears as she noticed everybody staring out the window at a keg. A full keg, too, by the looks of it.
The group brought it back to Forman's and by that time, Melissa had to leave for work. She changed into her t-shirt and jeans and was on her way.
Once she got there, she immediately fell into the routine. The place was buzzing, filled to maximum capacity and she bustled about, taking orders and bringing food to tables.
All the while, she never took notice of the man in the corner holding a photograph of a beautiful pregnant woman. The photograph was dated October 24th, 1960.
