We sat on the fairly dusty sofa, finishing up the last of our breakfast while discussing our next moves. It was still fairly early in the morning, even after last night, sleeping in an unfamiliar, and a possibly dangerous building wasn't easy.
"We could head into the town," Liam muttered between mouthfuls of fruit, "maybe we could find some stuff that would help us."
"A radio would be helpful, see if anyone got any info on what's happening, and where the hell we're supposed to go," I said, glaring out of the nearest window which was cracked open slightly.
"Is it a good idea to go into the town, we don't know what's there, or anywhere for that matter?" I continued after a moment of silence, watching Liam's reaction carefully.
"It's only been one day, it'll be fine, yeah people will wanna survive but so do we, besides this is a tiny town."
"Fine, we'll go after you've finished eating."
I stood up and walked to the alcove, checking the cupboards for any canned food we could take before we left.
It was about five minutes later when we emerged onto the desolate street, it seemed most residents of the town had already taken their cars and driven away, probably to a nearby rescue centre, which I hoped the government had set up.
By the time we had reached the centre of the town I was feeling anxious, it felt as if someone was watching us.
"Hey, we can go in here. It's a supermarket, they'll have loads of stuff." Liam said.
"Okay, I'm coming. Calm down will you."
I pushed open the doors to the supermarket and walked inside. I could hear my footsteps echoing around the store and I immediately made way over to the snacks aisle, found a packet of Oreos and started eating them, what can I say, they're my favourite.
I saw Liam walks down the aisle towards me with two large backpacks and laughed when he saw the packet of Oreos in my hand.
"Can you find something useful please, I mean, I know you're obsessed but still. Go and find stuff that we can actually survive from." Liam said, handed me a backpack and smiled before walking off again.
"Moodypants" I stated before heading off in the opposite direction.
I started towards the toiletry section, eventually finding the aisle and picking out the necessities, including a toothbrush and toothpaste, just cause the world was ending didn't mean I had to be disgusting. I also grabbed a roll of toilet paper, you know, just in case we need it.
I then went to the 'ladies' section and grabbed myself a few packets of tampons, because well, I need them.
After this, I headed towards a food aisle and grabbed about ten cans of beans, unfortunately only beans. I didn't really think about any variety, once again, unfortunately.
About 40 or so minutes had passed since we had entered the supermarket, and now we were pretty sure we had got everything we needed, and so we headed back towards the entrance, the only problem was, we had no way other than on foot out of this town.
I knew Liam wanted to find a motorcycle and get out of here, but we needed to find a motorcycle first, and in a pretty much-abandoned town I hoped it wouldn't be that hard.
~~~
As we were walking down the side of the street, I had noticed that it seemed a lot hotter than the previous week, you know could be from the nuclear war that happened yesterday. From what I was aware of, there had been no more bombs today, which I hoped would stay the same.
