Jade was running through a forest. The pleading yells behind her became more and more distant as her feet took her somewhere else. She had no idea how many moments of silence and running had taken place before she came to a stop beside a lake. The water sparkled like a star in the moonlight, but it wasn't dark. Still the sun soared high above the sky, reaching through the trees for Jade, lighting up her world; nothing could help her, she had seen things nobody should have to see. If only she couldn't see people...
It took five hours for them to find her, shaking and crouching by the lake. Over and over they asked why she ran but she couldn't tell them - if she did they'd never believe her. She had been in the same room as a murderer! What if it was her next?
At home Jade's stepdad stretched out on the sofa with a can of Fosters in his hand. He wasn't drunk yet but she didn't want to be around when he was. Jade walked into the living room and grimaced at the sight of the stinking, fat man that dared to trespass her home. Why her mum didn't listen to her she didn't know. Ugly pig. She should have ran at the sight of him. She should have stayed single after Jade's father died. But none of that happened.
"What's up crazy kid? Or can't you speak? Poor girl needs a therapist." Brian Andrews muttered to nobody in particular.
"Shut up. Why don't you go choke on your beer, huh? Go on! Do everyone a favour and just die." Jade retorted.
"Bitch." Brian spat. Jade walked out, plotting ways to kill him in his sleep. She wanted to see him. To see his real intentions with her mother. Jade had known him for three years now but she had never truly seen him. Brian Andrews was just another mystery left to solve.

Teen FictionJade lived a life that is like no other. She could see things nobody could see. She was happy until her stepdad came along. And then she could see him... I just wanted to add that Jade's character was inspired by Orsay in Hunger by Michael Grant.
