Lance's P.O.V
The mission today was a lot of work, much more than I thought. The seven of us all made our way down to the kitchen were we had our dinner, bowls of space goo. I was sitting in between Keith on my left and Hunk on my right, Pidge across from me next to Allura, on her left sat Shiro. "Good work today paladins." Allura smiled as she spoke. Honestly today I was much to tired to get lectured about how I missed my shot and caused Keith to take heavy fire and gain injures. I stood looking around seeing the others look alive and awake.
I pulled on a fake smiled and said, "I need to shower and put on a face mask." The other just sighed and shook their heads. I walked to the showers and to the very back of the showers a sat. the hot water causing steam to rise, curled into the very left corner of the shower I hugged my knees and let the tears run free. It always confused me how the other paladins were not affected by this sudden change. The water began mixing whith my salty tears as the fell down my cheeks and onto the floor. I heard foot steps and my head shot up seeing no one in there with me, I assumed it was one of the others going to shower.
The steps became closer and louder, "Lance? You in here?" echoed the voice of my big friend, Hunk. He entered and began walking down my way. The panic grew in my mind, before hunk could get down to me a heard a muffled yell the was follows by a quick 'coming' from hunk. Once he left the showers I released a breath I didn't know I wad holding. My breathing was shaking and the tears began to fall faster and harder. My broken sobs echoed threw out the mainly empty showers. Hiccups and sobs were the only noise soon, drowning out the sound of water hitting my back.
I sat there and breaking at the seams with broken words falling from my trembling lips. "T-This is to m-much," another hiccup erupted from my lips as I kept mumbling, "D-Did they forget..? I'm just a-a boy from Cuba?"
Hunk's P.O.V.
Lance had been in the bathroom for over twenty minutes at this point, we drew straw to see who would go and check on lance, I walked down the dark halls of the castle, our only source of light were pillars in the walls giving off light. Once I got to the bathroom I thought i heard sobs and hiccups. I walked into the showers and called, "Lance? You in here?" No reply came after I called, also the hiccups and sobs quite. I saw the shower in the very back had stem coming out the top, I began walking down that way, until I heard the commanding voice of Shiro call me back. I nodded and yelled back and left the showers. Once Shiro and I got back back to the lounge area by the bridge I took my seat and began thinking about the sobs I heard going to check on lance.
Pidge nudged my shoulder and asked, "Where's lance?" I sat there for a moment before i looked to Shiro, Keith, Allura, Pidge, and even Corran. After staring at everyone I had their worried gazes. he looked down and the at Shiro.
"I, I think lance is hiding something from us all." Once i spoke there gazes softened. "I think Lance is breaking." I whispered. Shiro, Kieth,and Pidge looked at me with wide eyes. Allura and Corran both had the same confused face. "That means he's crying behind our back, Faking a smile and things like that." I explained and the two alteans nodded their heads. The others still seamed shocked by what I said. Shiro gave me a look that told me to explain, the others nodded to me and then a sighed. "As I was walking down the halls to check on lance i heard hiccups and sobs, the closer i got the louder they became before I called out to Lance, after that they stopped." I explained. everyone nodded and we all walked our separate ways with a heavy silence following each.
Lance's P.O.V.
Once Hunk left i began crying again, I knew he heard my sobs and probably told the others. I knew this meant would never be left alone anymore. I sighed and left the showers and looked around going to he lions holding place. knocking twice Blue's shield fell and I walked into her quickly my armor on, I took off. Flying to the planet of the mermaids and smiled at how the planet warmed up. I landed blue on a chunk of ice and smiled siting with me leg hanging to the water. I saw figures be gin to swim up to me, I slipped off my helmet and the two figures were the queen and one of the other who helped me save this planet. "Hello." I mumbled, who two both put a hand my knees.
"Hello, Lance why did you leave the castle?" Asked the queen, her voice made me feel safe like I could tell her anything. It gave me the same feeling my mom gave me. I looked down at the two and my small gently smile faded. Their tails swayed slowly in the water below us. It was a very long story, but I knew if I wanted to tell these two all of the story they'd listen.
I looked down at them and sighed, "Its almost like they all forgot I'm just a boy from Cuba, I'm no technology genius like Pidge, I cant cook or fix things like Hunk, I'm not good with a sword like Keith, and I'm not a leader. The only thing I can do is fire a gun and I'm not good at that even." talking about this felt much better than keeping it bottled up, tears streamed down my face as we continued to talk, "Also, The sudden change was a lot of pressure for me to deal with." I smiled threw the tears as the two tugged on my legs. "A small swim wont hurt." I nodded putting back on my helmet back on and jumped into the water, the three of us swam together before I saw the castle above. My smiled faded and i looked to the queen, "Can I come back?"
"Of course lance, you are always welcome here" she told me. my smile returned as we hugged. I closed my eyes taking a deep breath and flew to the blue lion, the others were all there waiting. I sighed before getting close to them. "hey everyone!" I yelled waving and smiling. They all turned to me. "Lance!" they ran over giving me a hug, I knew that by this hug they were worried about me. "O-Okay to tight." I mutter and they all let go I looked around and way the two mermaids who wee with me before, I shooed them away and they other were very confused. "nothing, So what are you all doing?" I asked knowing I'd been gone or an hour or two."
Keith shook his head and said, "You were gone for 3 and a half hours, so we came looking." I nodded and ran to blue. "Now lets go back." everyone went back and I slid down the shield. i looked to the mermaids and the smiled and motioned me over. I sat and smiled as the gave me an earring . I put it in my ear and it glows, the two had the same earpiece their's were glowing too, she began to speak and even though my helmet on I could hear her. I smiled and ran off, back to my lion. the other stayed close the only time I was ever alone, eventually I stopped taking my lion cause the always found me. I was swimming with the other two when we looked up at the large shadow we saw the castle. I gave an tired sigh, "Can I say longer?" I asked
The two nodded and we swam down deeper, me helmet was under my arm as i had come here so often i was used to the water and didn't need my helmet anymore. once we got there a guard bows and said, "Your back." he bows and lets us pass. "Ma'am, what should we do what if the other paladins get mad cause we have lance?" the other mermaid asked, now that I could really hear the voice it was deeper than I thought it would have been. ten to twenty minutes later there was yelling and i sigh, swimming over i say Shiro and Pidge. "Sir!" the guard said standing at attention as a swam over. "Lance?!" they said shocked I didn't have on my helmet. I dismissed that and called the others, we hugged and said something that Shiro and Pidge didn't hear. I smiled more and we began swimming up when when the other mermaid came over they gave me my helmet. We hugged once more and I put on the helmet once we got above water they were all glaring. "What?!" I yelled they all pulled me inside, I knew i was in trouble and i was ready for a week's worth of lectures, they never came all that came was a slap from the others, my cheek burns and i dint cry i pushed back the tears. "Good night." I said emotionless.Making my way to the showers out of sight i cried and held my cheek going to my room i talked and soon enough i fell asleep hearing the voice of the queen and the other mermaid who told me their name was Jase. I woke seeing Shiro, Keith, and Allura. we talked for hours before the earpiece began to glow. I smiled and Allura reached out for it, i turned so she could no get to it. I got up smiling and went to their planet again and we played together for hours. I was smiling more even though i'd cry after a lecture i was more happy.
