Adelice woke up in the car, leaning against Xavier’s car seat. The air had a salty smell and she could hear crashing consistently every 10 seconds. Then she realized she should be dead right now.
They had driven off the cliff, which would have led them to being crushed on the rocks. Adelice would have died a horrible death(as a psycho lead her to it). Then her parents would come and her dad would regret sending his kids away with a strange and insane woman to protect them. But she was alive. Maybe she was in heaven, or hell. But she didn’t think heaven was so gloomy or hell so cold. Maybe this is the afterlife. If it is, it’s pretty lame. No, it’s not the afterlife. Somehow I’m still alive and in the car. But how could that happen?! This is crazy! Oh My God… I should be dead right now. How am I alive and dry?!
She took a moment to calm down and look around. Then she noticed that she was the only one in the car.
“XAVY! WHERE ARE YOU?! XAVY! XAVIER LITTING! WHERE ARE YOU?!” She stepped out of the car in search for Xavier.
She was on a small beach that could hold maybe 11 cars. The beach was a small semi-circle and around the right and left edges there were very sharp and massive rocks. Those probably separated this beach from the other bigger and public ones. Behind her was a giant cliff that rose up so high that she couldn’t see the top. The sky was getting lighter as dawn was about to break. It looked like she had spent most of the night in the car. In San Francisco, at the start of the summer, it was usually gloomy and dark. In July, it would start to get hot. Right now, she couldn’t see much of the ocean because of the fog that always appeared at dawn. She searched around the beach looking for Xavy. Horrible thoughts about where he was and what he was going through went through her mind.
Oh no, the woman must have taken him. He’s probably calling for me now. Or what if they drowned in the water and somehow I’m the only one alive? Maybe God saved me to punish me for not protecting Xavier; I can’t live with the guilt. What i-
“Enjoying yourself?”
Adelice slowly turned around and saw a tall boy who looked about 17 leaning on the car. He had jet black hair and bright orange-brown eyes. In fact, they were so bright she was surprised she could see them in the dim light. They were small fires just starting to burn. Not a strong red flame, but a small orange color. They puzzled Adelice. He had short hair that had a blue tinge in the lighting. His British accent surprised Adelice even more. She wondered what he was doing here. On vacation? Recently moved? Strangely, his black leather jacket sagged on him as if it was a few sizes too big. He wore a faded t-shirt under the jacket and worn out jeans. Add some sunglasses and he could complete the look. He made her want to check if she was looking fine herself.
Looking down she realized she was wearing black pajama pants with cartoon skulls on them and a blue t-shirt. But she didn’t care; she knew this type of boy too well. They thought they were all that and that all the girls would run after them. Which most did. His smirk said it all. They didn’t actually like any of the girls or talk to them. The girls would just cry about them and treat them how she treated her favorite characters, but the worst was when the boys would decide to bestow some grace on a girl and play with her. Like a cat and a mouse. Making her want him even more. When they would break up, the girl would have her heart crushed and stamped on. These boys didn’t have hearts. She hated boys like that. But she had more to think about than boys.
“Who are you?!” Adelice said, worried. “How did you get here?” Her voice had quickly gone from worried to demanding.
“Nice pajamas. The skulls make me think you’re goth, but not the rest of you. Very contradictory. By the way, you look like you were in a tornado. Just saying.” His voice exasperatingly smooth but then again, he wasn’t the one who had fallen off a cliff. He walked toward her and she backed away as he came closer.
