Aeri's POV

My eyes fluttered open, the brightness in the lights on the ceiling before me, stung my eyes. I slowly blinked a couple of times, trying to adjust my eyes to the brightness. Then, I was able to keep them open for a long time, and looked around the room.

A woman dressed in a nurse's outfit saw me and gasped. "You're awake."

My eyes were tired as I looked at her and said, "Where am I?"

"You're in a hospital right now," she responded. "Just stay tight, I'll go get the doctor."

She quickly ran out the door, leaving me laying there on the hospital bed. Looking around once more, I found an IV string attached to my left hand. It felt weird, making my nerves jump. Did they stab my veins?

Soon later, a middle-aged man in a medical coat entered the room with a clipboard in his hands. It must be the doctor. He shut the door behind him and made his way over to me. I then tried sitting up from the hospital bed.

"Don't get up, you need to rest," he said, trying to make me lay back down.

"I'm fine," I said, not listening to what he told me and sat up anyway.

"How are you feeling?" he said, looking at me.

"Well, just feelin' a bit dizzy, but other than that, I'm fine," I said, partially lying.

He wrote something down on his clipboard, and turned his eyes to me again, "Well, we took an X-ray on your head and. . . I am truly sorry to say, but we've got some bad news."

From that, my stomach tightened. I raised my eyebrows, curious to know what they found. "What is it, doc?"

"Let me ask you some questions first," he said, getting his pencil ready to write. "Have you been feeling dizzy often?"

I nodded, answering, "Yes."

He quickly wrote on his clipboard. "How about your eyes? Do you get blurred vision?"

I nodded again, answering, "Yes."

"Headaches?" he asked without looking at me.

"Yes."

"Loss of balance?"

All of them, were yeses. I answered once again, "Yes."

I stared at him in confusion as the expression on his face didn't look so good after that. What's wrong?

Then, all of a sudden, there was an uneasy queasiness to my stomach. Thinking back, all of those symptoms that the doctor named leads to a. . . disease.

My eyes widened in despair. That can't be.

"A brain tumor?" I blurted out, looking at the doctor with my pitiful, teary eyes.

He met my eyes, and frowned. He slowly nodded, and said in a low tone, "Yes, you are diagnosed with. . . a brain tumor."

I looked away and shut my eyes, tears emerging from my eyes, sliding down my cheeks.

"I am truly sorry to have delivered this unpleasant news to you," he said bowing to me.

I still stayed in that postion, my eyes couldn't open with the tears cascading down my cheeks helplessly.

"The tumor in your brain developed months ago. If you came to us earlier, we would've been able to help," he added, making me feel worse. "I am truly sorry for throwing all the negatives at you, but. . . I just want to let you know, that you have less than six months to live."
