Him

Tom glances at his clock; it's 6:14. He winces and waits for his alarm to go off, it screams in his ear and he turns it off and sits on his bed. He thinks about Matt, Edd and... Tord. Tord bullies him on a daily basis, beating him up over the smallest things. He usually just ignores taunts, but physical contact can get to be too much and he obviously can't get teachers involved.

Tom glances at his clock again. It's 6:43. He sat in bed thinking for as long as he would've slept. He stands up and throws on a grey shirt and his blue hoodie and puts on black jeans. He waits until 7:00 to leave so he doesn't have to deal with his dad, hopefully.

When he walks downstairs he sees his dad on the floor, sitting in front of the coffee table with tears streaming down his face. Tom pities him for a moment and sits next to him. "What's wrong?" It's the first time that Tom's spoken to him in a while without resentment in his voice. His eyes widen and he says, "Your mother... I miss her- I miss her voice. I wish I could hear it again."

Tom doesn't know what to say and he starts to cry with him. "I miss her too" He looks at the clock. "I have to go to school." He wipes the tears from his face and walks out the door and runs to school.

When Tom gets to the school he runs up to Edd and Matt. They're holding hands and Edd is leaning on Matt's shoulder. "Hey, guys! How's it going?"

"Gah!" Edd jumps and blushes. He puts his hands in his pockets as though nothing happened and says, "Fine, thank you." Tom chuckles and asks, "How about you, Matt?"

"Great!" Matt replies and he chuckles as well. They walk into the school and Tom smiles. They split ways and get to their homeroom class. 'Great, I managed to avoid Tord all morning!' Tom thinks to himself.

The bell rings and Tom heads to his first class, history. He sits at his desk, in the third row next to the window. He doesn't plan on listening to the teacher, so he just stares at the chalkboard and follows what the teacher is writing. The time passes quickly and nothing interesting happens until period four.

Tom walks into the locker room. He takes off his shirt once everybody leaves and turns around to see Tord. Tord holds Tom in place and looks down at him. "Ready for another lesson?" Tom refuses to make eye contact and acts like nothing is wrong. "Are you ignoring me?" Tord asks. Tom continues to ignore him and Tord lifts him off the floor and Tom keeps looking down. Tord sets him down quickly and lifts up Tom's head with his hand and Tom stares into Tord's eyes. "Stop ignoring me!"

Tom's chest lights up a light blue color and neither Tom or Tord notice. Tom walks away and Tord just lets him be.

Tom leaves the locker room and does his second-semester swimming test. After that, he heads to his last period, biology. Nothing out interesting happens and Tom had a good day at least for his standards.

He walks out of the school and catches up with Edd and Matt who are giggling with each other. Edd has his hands in his pockets.

Tom runs up behind them and stands in-between them. "Hey, guys."

"Hi, Tom!" Edd says enthusiastically and Matt just looks at the ground. Tom takes a step back and grabs Edd's left arm and Matt's right. He moves his hands to theirs and steps back. He puts his hands together, making them hold hands. Then he lets go. "Could you look each other in the eyes?"

Edd looks up into Matt's eyes. His chest glows a light red as does his face. "As I thought. You guys are soulmates!" They look down at the ground and don't let go of each other's hands. They're both blushing madly and Tom chuckles. "You're cute together too."
